The Tude and I share a mutual love of the Wildcats but when it comes to FBS loyalty, the ‘Tude has deep ties to Okalahoma and The red clay of Georgia is still under my fingernails. UGA and OU are bout to hook up in the Rose Bowl, where Georgia hasn’t played since the 1940s.
Others are free to join in, just be aware this is not a Wildcat thread. It’s under “around the NCAA” ......Let the smack begin.

My overall take on the game:
Georgia and OU have never played each other. I’m not sure about OU but Georgia hasn’t been to the Rose Bowl since 1942.
Georgia’s offense is built around it’s running game, featuring Nick Chubb, The second leading rusher in SEC history. Chubb splits time with two other backs.
Oklahoma’s offense is built around Heisman Trophy favorite QB Baker Mayfield.
Suffice to say, Georgia has not faced a passing game as good as OU all season and OU has not faced a running game that approaches Georgia’s.
Georgia has to keep Mayfield off the field by controlling the ball on offense to win this game. That’s how Iowa State Beat the Sooners. OU has to stop GA early, score a couple of TD’a and force Georgia to pass more than run. Auburn beat Georgia a couple of weeks ago by forcing Georgia to abandon its riun first game plan.
the early betting line is anywhere between PK and OU -2.

I just do not understand how a team (Alabama) does not make it to their conference championship game but can sneak into the playoff. The system is broke. I do think it is better than the previous system, but if a team does not make it to their conference championship, I just do not think they should be in the playoff. That said, I would like to see both SEC schools beat in the first round of the playoffs.

That said, I would like to see both SEC schools beat in the first round of the playoffs. Ohio State made the play offs last year without wining its division or the Big 10 Championship. The selection committee is charged with selecting the four best teams in college football, which may mean two of the four best are from the same conference. Personally, I’d change the criteria so that Only conference champions are eligible but that’s not the present system. That would remove the subjectivity from selection. On this point we agree. I don’t agree with your second point at all though. Go Dawgs!

Thanks Oscar. I got on my computer this morning thinking that I would set up a Tude v OWC thread and lo and behold, you already done it.
The quarterback play in the SEC championship was painful to watch. Neither of those guys could play in the Big 12. (One of them had to bail) Put Hill, Shimonek, Rudolph, etc on Georgia and they would be a force. As it stands, I don't believe OU can be beat by a one-dimensional team.

The defensive play in the Big 12 Championship was laughable. Georgia’s freshman QB will look much better against an inferior defense.

This is gonna be a fun week on this thread. I'm pulling for your Sooners 'tude! But in all honesty, I am just pulling for anyone other than Alabama.

Trying to figure out how to compare the teams. But. No common opponents. Our opponents don't even have common opponents. There were 2 Big 12 v SEC games: TCU hammered Arkansas in Fayetteville and Vandy edged K-State in Nashville. Not much there. OU's SOS (Sagarin) is 29 and Georgia's is 37. Close enough in my book. UGA was 3-1 against top 30 teams; OU was 5-1. No difference here. You can only beat the teams you play. Sagarin has Ohio State 4th and OU 5th. Go Figure. Alabama number 1.
So, the top 13 reasons that OU will win: B BA BAK BAKE BAKER BAKERM BAKERMA BAKERMAY BAKERMAYF BAKERMAYFI BAKERMAYFIE BAKERMAYFIEL BAKERMAYFIELD

I missed the games Saturday due to travelling but caught highlights late Saturday night when I got to the hotel in Brenham. Seems like the next few weeks will be interesting. An OU/Geaorgia match up will be quite interesting to watch indeed. I have no stake in the game but still look forward to it.

OU played 4 of the top 20 offensive teams including #2 and #3 plus TCU at 34. Georgia played the offensive powerhouses in the SEC East. Nuff Said. Skews the Def rankings a bit.

I certainly have no "Dawg" in this fight nor Sooner for that matter. But since I'm for all things anti-SEC (primarily anti-Alabama) I'll have to pull for the B12 team. It really makes no difference who wins this one, each will just be food for my SC Clemson Tigers. Go Tigers.

Clemson’s campus is closer to UGA than any SEC school., about 80 miles as I recall. It was a huge rivalry game that unfortunately got lost during the first round of SEC expansion that added Arky and Sourh Carolina to the conference. We made it up to Clemson for couple of those games. The noise was deafening. Georgia -Clemson for the final would be long on nostalgia for me, even if ”Refrigerator” Perry no longer plays for the Tigers P.S. Now that you are Clempsun fan you will have to get you a tractor and paint it Orange to drive up to games on.
