Look, I hope that every single one of them is all conference over the next couple of years, but the fact of the matter is we have to start winning games, and until we do, we can't grade a signing class. Because I don't know a thing about any of these players and am not wowed by their credentials doesn't mean I don't trust the coaches or root for the team.

Tylor Lovette isn't on the Butler list of signed athletes. I liked his film fine as a true freshman but I want to know the reason he didn't play this year.

Who said Padgett left the team?
Why do we need to know who left the team? I don't know a single program in America that lets it be known why every player left.
I don't know how good this signing class is or isn't. We needed depth at a lot of spots and we got it. There are still several places I'd like there to be more guys. I choose to trust the guys who have watched way more film on these guys than I ever will. They have to put this team together and live with it.
Is every player going to pan out; NOPE! However, I like our team more at the end of today than I did at the beginning of it

Wildcatter, we were after Lovette last year I believe. I wonder if he is the OLineman we wanted to be here in August, but never made it in. I have no inside knowledge, just wondering myself

I have no idea whether he quit or why. Just wondering.

I'm seeing some kids with decent size that can add some needed depth and talent where we need it. I trust our coaching staff to take them to the next level. Let's face it, ALL recruits are untested until they take the field with the team they have practiced with. I have been learning that good systems produce good players, most of them with players we never heard of. I trust that our coaches are picking solid players and solid kids. What I see so far is hard recruiting work. I still see things I want that are on other's wish lists here as well, but I trust we'll get some of that as well.

I keep asking. "Where are the big boys?" Napierkowski isn't big and I don't think can step in to the 2-deep. Lovette looks to be a solid center and will allow Weber to play another position. I'm still looking for the 6'5" 310 guy that can play from day 1. Don’t be so sure he doesn’t come in and play right away. I really like what I see. I’m not sure about the opponents, but I saw a very skilled left tackle. He has very quick feet and shows a ton of athleticism for a lineman. More importantly, he plays with great technique and a nasty streak. Many times we see kids pancake a HS d-lineman that they outweigh by 75 lbs. no technique required. Napierkowski doesn’t have that advantage yet he still crushes opponents. Maybe he can put on 15-30 lbs. If not, I still see a guy that can play in our league.

DJ's academics improved. He did put in the work and his goal, as he told me, was to be here to play next year.

I just watched this kids film and I agree with 86, he impresses. I would like to see him put on more weight though...as long as he maintains his athleticism.

Bruner is listed as 6'2" on the Pasadena City College Roster. More of an H-back perchance? He looks like he can fit the Crain mold to me. He catches the ball well and can run down field, just gotta make sure he can block. I feel much better about the TE/HB position today than I did all Fall.

OK, seeing the JUCOs we signed, is there still a position we need immediate help? We were already solid at Safety; we helped ourselves at CB (adding 3) and look to be solid there; LB-we added one, may need another; DE, we still may need a speed guy but have some depth from our holdovers there (newcomer Brian Miller looks strong but a tad slow); DT-I'd liked to have seen a big bruiser added, maybe later. Nyandika is quick but small. Offense-We helped our depth with Klayman at QB and McKnight at RB, maybe add some HS talent and redshirt. Receiver-with Fuller coming back (he is, isn't he?) and adding Torin Justice (not speedy but a high flyer)we may still need somone immediate here (Miller improved last year IMO and Fink will continue to be a contributor); TE-we added depth, so we come to the OL. Lovette and Napierkowski look like they booth can play-so add them to Laws, Weber, Parmelly and all the redshirts from last year. Not sure who is ready for prime time but Cage Hendrix looks the part to me. Do we need more depth here--? YES! i’ll bite. o line and running back were the two biggest areas of need in my opinion. online. lost 6. Reiken. Hisler. Melde (?), Etuk to D. Giddens to TE, padgett (?) signed two. RB lost Brown. signed 1 we are still short on numbers at both positions. RB. we don’t have the numbers to have a run first offense. o line. a couple of step downs or Feb signees are still needed.

A grade? no can do. Not enough information.
We won’t make anyone’s top ten signing class list. We were on such a list two years ago though and virtually every headliner from that class is gone, most without ever playing a down for us. Giddens is still here but is changing positions. So maybe rankings at the FCS level are over rated?
i have my concerns, particularly when i see other schools in our conference signing higher profile kids with multiple offers. At the same time i trust our coaches and realize from experience that higher profile does not always mean much.
