There's less than a month before the season starts and I wanted to preview the upcoming season. Last year obviously didn't go the way we wanted it too with us only winning 13 total games and only 3 conference games. 12 of our first 13 games are at home with our first series being a 3 game home stand against Quinnipiac, then one game against UTSA at home and a game against Oklahoma on the road followed by another home stand against Texas Southern. Some convincing wins there would go a long ways to show that we might be on the right track. But also remember we swept both NDSU and Creighton last year so then again maybe not. We've lost some key players from last year's team with Mark Pearson quitting, Anthony Dominguez and Cole Solomon transferring, plus Aaron Draper, Russell Crippen and Brandon Lambright graduating. The recruiting class we're bringing in seems to be good from what I've seen, some of the bright spots are Jonathan Nicholson, Noah Miller and Kyler Castillo. We also brought in a new pitching coach in Cory Vanderhook from college baseball powerhouse CS Fullerton, so that's a positive sign to me. If he can improve the pitching and the offense stays at the level it was at last year or even improves I think we could be an ok team and not the dumpster fire we've been the last few years. But that might be wishful thinking. Regardless until we prove that we can win consistently or are even slightly improved I can't predict us to be win that many games. I predicted we would win 16-20 total games and 8-11 conference games last season and this year i'm in the same area. I think we'll win 15-20 games and 7-10 conference games, which might not be good enough to save Bonneau's job.

How many new players came in? I couldn’t tell you the exact number since the 2018 roster still isn’t out, but I guarantee you that we’ve had a good bit of attrition, maybe more than what we’ve had in the last few years.

That is good news, I was kinda worried about that and wondering what that would mean for this year.

Sorry '75 I hadn't seen my comment for a while. I must have been going through stuff quickly and didn't read carefully enough. My mind was thinking retainment.** I didn't want the team to have to start from scratch. Honestly I haven't been keeping up with baseball enough to go further than that on performance level of players.

19 days til opening game and still no posted roster. Long interviews with Vanderhook and Bonneau and little real info. No idea how good our pitching staff will be and if we'll be able to cut down on walks. Appears we don't have much speed (only two mentioned with speed) and don't know about power. Lots to learn in next 2 weeks. Seems coaches are still sesrching after fall ball for a lineup. A couple of pitchers mentioned aren't ready yet (maybe by conference) and a freshman may get some starts. Thought we'd be further along and maybe we are, just couldn't tell by the interviews. So many new faces leaves a lot of question marks...again!

I've lost interest, just like the interest lost in player continuity.

Sure don’t want to be negative but just not a lot of positives lately. Sure hope they are on the right path though and we just can’t see it yet.

No, not surprised. Just want this program turned around. I couldn't hear Vanderhook very well when he spoke of the pitching staff. I don't know what we've brought in but surely someone can throw strikes this year. We seem to have an ace but I don't know who he is. We once had speed but seems that we only have 2 players this year that can run (Scott and someone else). Hitting--Scott, Claborn, Trevino and someone named Munoz was mentioned. Any power there are will we move from base to base again having to have 4 hits to score a run? I appreciate Macaluso and his knowledge of California baseball but I want to hear about the Cats. Man, I'm getting frustrated before the 1st pitch is even thrown. Maybe I'd better skip this season to avoid ulcers.

It appears that the returning players have been added to the 2018 page. None of the new guys yet

Sadly that's not very many returners. On another note our SID has been busy today, T&F also got an updated roster put out today.
