And hope some pro team doesn't wave a pile of cash in front of him.

And hope some pro team doesn't wave a pile of cash in front of him. I don't think we have to worry about that. His name doesn't come up in any mock drafts and if he is a very late round draft pick, then coming to school and developing for a few years is a better course of action anyways.

Looks like their other two pitchers aren't too shabby either. Wonder how old they are. This will be a good pickup for the Cats!

Miller (6-0, 0.35 ERA) is a senior according to the roster listed on Max Preps. Fenner (6-0, 1.56 ERA) is a sophomore via MaxPreps. Stats were included in the article.

They’re playing my son’s high school Friday and Krawietz is pitching. Guess I’ll go check him out!

Krawietz broke the state record for consecutive scoreless innings tonight and helped himself with a 2 run home run.

We have a boatload of graduates and the names of our baseball recruits are coming in. We'll look entirely different next year. Can someone tell us, are we getting better players? We lose Trevino who leads us offensively in nearly every category. Do we have a replacement for his hitting coming in? We return Chirpich, who among the recruits might be a difference maker for this staff (Krawietz)?

Short answer Bogey, NO, we do not have someone that can replace what Trevino is doing. In the NCAA, Trevino is 5th in average among all D1 players, 20th in homers and 11th in RBI.
I think the overall talent should be pretty good, but we also lose a lot of experience. I fully expect that 2021 is when you will see this team make a big jump in the conference standings.

Big news! Best Abilene area pitcher for several years, and likely district 3-6A pitcher of year (All-District pitcher last year), 6' 4" Ryan Johnson just committed to the Wildcats. Great kid, 4.0 and high academic achiever, plus a fastball that approaches 90. Gonna be a good 4 years with this one! Getting the best local talent will help us win the hearts of the local Abilene community. This is a great get for McCarty and his staff!!! Facebook link

Looks like we are getting 3 really good pitching prospects (maybe more) in Johnson, Krawietz, and Cuffe. A really good start to rebuilding this team.
