Safety — SR: Bonafide, Richmond (2) — JR: Robinson (1) — SOPH: Williams (1) — RFR: Broussard, Barroso, Egbo, Leal, Siebert (4) — FR: TBD The five scholarship athletes are good and Williams should be a great player. Broussard is intriguing as well. Looks to me like we need at least one transfer and a couple of scholarship high school players.
Cap'n, thanks for getting this thread going. I promise I have not been ignoring -- just have had to wait until I have a few minutes to think about it before I start responding.
QB - Luke Anthony - Jr (11 starts); Sema'J Davis (7 games); Cole Klayman (1 game); Tucker Horn (scho - redshirt) and Damon Tamez (walkon - redshirt). Andrew Stripling shows up next Fall and I agree that it appears he could move into the backup role. However, I also think that he might redshirt, to give him more time after Luke graduates.
If Luke couldn't play in a game, I don't know who would start. Sema'J proved to be a terrific change-of-pace, Wildcat formation QB for ACU this year, but his passing is very suspect. In the 1 game that another QB was preparing to go if Luke couldn't place, it was actually Cole Klayman who got the practice snaps. I would love to see Tucker Horn get a lot of snaps this Spring and see what he has to show -- he apparently was solid all year as the scout team QB. Tamez is obviously intriguing due to his height. I also think that Sema'J's repertoire might expand to get him on the field more - slot receiver and/or wide receiver.
FULLBACK - Chance Pierce - Jr (11 games, with 1 start); Melvin Brown - Sr (4 games); Chandler Williams - So (1 game); and Granger Harris - So.
I love the idea of someone like Slayde Williams moving over to FB, which is a blocking position for ACU -- although Chance Pierce DID get to catch 1 pass last year and even got a first down on the reception. Chance Pierce was moved to FB from DE and Melvin Brown from LB, I could see 1-2 players moving to FB from other positions.
TIGHT END - Liam Flowers - Sr (6 games, with 2 starts before an injury ended his season); Remington Lutz - So (played 8 games), RS Fr Josh Nicholson (did not play in a game). I love seeing ACU pick up Paxton Bergdoll -- a big target with a lot of upside. Liam was having an excellent year when he was injured (10 receptions in 6 games). I am still high on Remington.

Cornerback — SR: Davis, Lofton, Majok (3) — JR: Richardson, Odoye (2) — SOPH: Lewis (1) — RFR: Burnett (1) — FR: TBD We know what Davis, Richardson and Lofton can do. Before he got hurt, Odoye showed a lot. Lewis and Dixon will both compete for playing time, I think. Losing Williams to academics (speculation) hurts. I wonder if he might return if things get straight at Butler. He tweeted, “once a Wildcat, always a Wildcat” and that makes me think the coaches may have left the door open a little (also speculation). This is a talented group but 2-4 recruits seems inevitable.

Linebacker — SR: Chambers (1) — JR: Gibbens, Washington, Hutchins, Cobb, Kier (5) — SOPH: Smith, Norman, Ho, Williams (4) — RFR: James, Stafford, Green, Box (4) — FR: TBD This list does not include Picone who played DE most of last year. With all the DEs coming back healthy, makes me wonder if Picone will return to his preferred position. This could be the best LB corps in the SLC and “Juice” will be a contender for defensive POY and possible AA consideration. 2-3 freshmen recruits and a transfer would look good here.

Defensive End — SR: Smith, Dean, Kuyatsami (3) — JR: Picone, Hill, Davis, Miller, Freeny, Previlon (6) — SOPH: Ijoma (1) — RFR: (0) — FR: TBD (0) Wow. Another very strong, deep position with Dean, Miller, and Freeny getting healthy. Smith and Hill really played well at the end of last year and Kuyatsami was solid for all 11 games. If the 3 “new” guys produce at a high level, this is a fierce group. Don’t see many transfers being recruited - perhaps only if they have 3 years or 2 and a redshirt. I bet they would really like to sign 2-3 on their offer list.

DefensiveTackle — SR: Burgess, Carter, Ihegworo (3) — JR: Pole, Gayden, Jones, Washington (4) — SOPH: (0) — RFR: Titre (1) — FR: TBD (0) Without knowing how good Gayden and Jones are, it appears that we are 3-deep here and that’s still pretty thin. If Dean is back to 290+ it’s possible he could move inside given our DE depth. But can he master the technique in his last year? It does appear that we are very good at this position - especially Burgess and Pole - but the coaches need to close the deal on a couple of high school guys and perhaps 1-2 more transfers. ***Ihegworo has been added which now makes this group look very, very good.***
