Cats still putting out offers to JUCO players. Newest offer to Drake Bradley. Where are these scholarships coming from?

He has size and speed. Would be a welcomed addition.

We don't know who is not coming back, unless someone on the board has access to the transfer portal. Were all of the transfers accepted into ACU? Just because an athlete signs a NLI does not mean they will be accepted into the university. I do think that the ACU football coaches will be allowed to hand out a full set of 63 scholarships, that can be distributed to as many as 85 players. I looked at the roster and would appear that the roster is somewhere between 80-83 scholarship athletes and that is only if every single person who has signed got into school. I did a quick look at the 13 transfers that I think I know about: 3 of them are accepted and enrolled for the fall; 9 are accepted, but not yet enrolled; and 1 transfer not yet accepted. Football is one of the few sports that is funded to the full extent of scholarships at ACU right now. I know that sports like T&F have been reduced from 8% to 10% in the past 2 years for scholarships and they were already under the full scholarship level before the reductions.

We are in the doldrums of sports news from ACU, both the time of year and this year exacerbated by turnover in the SID role at ACU. But, the next substantial date when it comes to recruiting for the 2021-22 school year is August 1. The window for signing official national letters of intent closes on August 1. A school can still recruit an athlete right up to opening day of school (or even a little beyond), but after August 1 the commitment can't be covered by the NLI.
Just like Bogey mentioned above, the football team is still feverishly looking to fill a few more holes on the roster. Most of the ACU sports have finished their recruiting for the year, but I still hope to see ACU getting some more T&F talent.

Sam Houston’s coach has said several times that he built his team to defeat North Dakota State, and this he did this past weekend. What specifically does he mean by his comment? More importantly, are we building our team to do the same beginning with recruiting? I hope we figure out how to simply compete for a playoff birth. Beating NDSU in or near the National Championship game seems so far away. So I hope we are finding players who can play, and help us win ballgames. You have to build your team meaning get the best players. ACU has to offer more than the rest. Facilities are great, education is great, but many schools offer this. What draws a kid to wear Texas? Not much. ACU has to find something that sets it apart and makes it different to pull in the best kids. Sometimes coaches are limited in the offense and defense they can run because of the skill of the players. Alot of great Christian kids come to ACU with great character. That doesn't make them elite athletes. It takes alot of effort to find both. ACU should be proud that the boys and coaches they have are men of character. That's worth more than any championship.

Footballmama, we are so glad that you are on the Board with us. Your personal insights are invaluable.
While it may seem that we are in over our head, ACU has a long history of athletic success. We have a bunch of very good players. Your son, for example. But we need more of them. But our time will come.

It's Monday night but Wednesday (signing day) is coming. 2022 recruiting is starting slowly.

I wonder how many potential high school signees we lost with the coaching change? I have a feeling the new staff will concentrate on transfers for this first year.
