My understanding, ACU was not given permission to wear the color (grey) of uniform they did. The officials thought that our color and EKU's color were too similar. Basically, in their estimation, we should have worn white, not grey. We had worn the grey uniforms at Lamar and it was fine. So Dorrel emailed the league saying this is what they wanted to do again. However, he received an email from the league saying we need to wear a different color. He didn't read the email properly, so ACU showed up in uniforms they weren't supposed to wear. Before the game started, ACU was penalized

I humbly disagree that the uniform snafu didn't affect the outcome of last weeks game. Dorrel said the team was "sluggish." He then said he was at a loss for why. I'd suggest the players were affected by the uniform problem way more than the HC and even the team knew. The loss of 4 TO's and 2 unsportsman penalties for no reason (nothing the team did) has to have an effect, if not physically then psychologically. When a player (or just a normal person) feels he is getting penalized for something that's not his/her fault doubt sets in. I've seen this in real life over and over, especially in struggling marriages where one partner gets blamed for things that are not their doing. Did we lose because of the uniform problem? I can't answer that. Was it the cause of our playing "sluggish?" Very much a chance.

Before the game started, ACU was penalized Yes, what is clear now is that the "officials" were not simply the people on the field. We had asked to wear those jerseys before the game and the ASun said, "No." So this was entirely our fault and not gamesmanship on the part of EKU.

Evan from KTXS, does Coach Dorrel, or, any ACU coaches, ever bring players to press conferences? If not, is it due to his preference, or, because it’s never been asked? Just curious. Go Wildcats!!
Players last came to a presser in 2019. Last year could've been COVID precautionary, but the pressers are at 11 a.m. which I believe is the same time as chapel.
Thanks.

It’s a perfect example of how Dorrel’s teams have functioned for the last five years. While it’s nice Dorrel took ownership of the error… what’s more concerning is he didn’t take care of the little details needed to be successful. From what I see…the team’s play mirrors the coach. I’m tired of hearing Dorrel say football is a game of momentum, violence and intensity…yada yada yada. What I don’t hear this Coach say, we as coaches didn’t make a proper game plan or make the needed in game adjustments once they determine what the opponent was doing. I believe we have talent…but we do not appear to put the players in the proper position to be successful. It’s a chicken or the egg thing. Which comes first player intensity/execution or coaching/game plan. If you have good players and a good scheme… good things happen on the field. Apparently there is a breakdown somewhere. I’ve heard the same podium speech for five years now… and the only constant is the coach.

If the play from last week continues, John David Baker should be head coach next season.

Lamar is bad but we don't look much better. We should have stomped on them early. Now it is 7-7 and Lamar will start believing they have a chance.
