A&M was too athletic for us but I saw lots of good things. We really haven't had the drop off that I was afraid we would losing so many of our starters from last year. We had lots of turnovers but A&M was playing pretty aggressive defense.

Hopefully we find some offensive confidence. It seems that Tanner is so focused on defense that guys don’t look comfortable on offense yet. We air ball and have weird misses on open lays ups or jump shots almost as if we were surprised to have an open look. I suppose that’s sometimes the case when playing bigger or more athletic teams though. A&M was much better than last year.

Gotta remember A&M was in the NIT finals this past season with a lot of returnees. We will get better as we go. Can’t wait to get Pleasant back.

Some observations... We miss our guys who moved on from last year. Our new players are quite good, but they have not yet gotten comfortable on offense. I was surprised that Cam shot so poorly and was not stronger under the basket, but in general we did not shoot as well as I thought we would. A&M had a lot to do with that. Airion is a force, but we cannot expect to see 80 percent 3 point accuracy going forward. The bottom line is we need to be able to switch on that offensive mind-set when players believe they can hit a shot or drive and dump to open teammates, when they want the ball and fully believe they will score. The Aggies had at least two guys who obviously wanted the ball on offense and who believed they were going to score. What I am trying to describe is easy to see but hard to explain. If you played the game, you know what I am talking about. You hit a couple of shots and your confidence grows as does your teammates. The last minutes of the first half were an example of that. In the past, we could trap the ball very well, but last night, the Aggies trapped us more than we did them. I still think we will be a force as the year plays out and our identity balances better.

We are holding our own right now and should progress as the season advances. We will need to grow as a team a little with as many new faces as we have.

RC - good observations here. As season progresses - we will get more comfortable putting the ball through the hoop. As far as guard play - we need a guy who we can rely on to make plays happen. To this point Arion seems like the answer, but does not have enough support. Wondering if maybe some guys off the bench can play a bigger role? What about freshman JV Seat? Big body similar to Arion and former Oklahoma player of the year his senior year last year. Thoughts? Perhaps McMurry will give the young guys a chance to earn some minutes.

Two hopes for the McMurry game. One -- we hit the century mark, and two -- we get to see more players and see if they are maturing and showing leadership potential. We need that initiator who comes down the floor and immediately disects the defence and either scores or sets up his mates for much more agressive offensive attacks. We almost looked defensive when we were on offense against A&M. They over played us but we did not get backdoors. We were just out played. Yes they were taller and very fast, but we did not seem to have an offensive scheme that could attack them. Joe Pleasant might be a key and needed addition since only Airion seems able to score underneath.

Basketball starts slowly but finishes 1st half on a high note. Simmons was very active early with 9 points but is again in foul trouble. Steele hits his 1st 3 and leads in scoring with 10 points. Cameron is his rebounding self on both ends. All scholarship players saw action in first half. 50-30 ACU

104-46 final ACU wins easily. ACU shot 60% from the field and 77% from the line.

Good to see so many get their 1st college points and others their 1st points of the year. Subs played the majority of 2nd half minutes. Joe Pleasant got to play last 2 minutes of game (only Cat who didn't score). 5 in double figures--Steele, Cameron, Dibba, Madden and Daniels. Still a little sloppy ball handling and passing but we're growing. Seat got to play lots of minutes as did Gai. This game against a tremendously outmanned, under talented McMurry squad should help our guys get their feet wet. Wright State beat Louisville ladt night so we'll have a battle next Monday in Las Vegas.

My two wishes were fulfilled. We got to the century mark and we got to see all our players including a few minutes of Joe Pleasant. It was a fun game but we must keep perspective... McMurry does not give basketball scholarships. They did shoot the ball early in game but our speed and athleticism was very dominant.

Watching KU play Southern Utah. SU looks really good, leading KU early in 2nd half. Not sure of their height but they are long and really shooting really well.

Vegas 4 tourney begins today. Looks like you have to have a subscription to Baller TV to watch ACU play. Has anyone subscribed to them before. Is the stream good?
