Heard from players this week that Coach Lee (OC) has been relieved of duties and Ryan Pugh will take over as OC while still coaching the OL. This is a good move that will make huge improvements for the offense next season.

I think it’s a good move for the program , I have heard great things about Ryan Pugh and was impressed with him this season.

There must have been some challenges for Lee, moving from D3 to D1. Our last move from OL coach to OC didn't work out as well as we hoped for. What does Ryan Pugh bring to the table that coach Lee didn't, I wonder. (I am excited about this move.)

I think the back half of the season when our play calling improved a lot of that came from him (post bye week that is) Ryan Pugh understands this level more and while Lee has great ideas, there is a bigger gap in level from d3 and d2 than people may think. Look at our last head coach and now OC

Pugh has great experience being the OL coach at BYU and Baylor (for a day) and was even the OC at Troy so this isn’t new for him. From what I know about Pugh he will have a great offense and know how to attack each defense to score a lot of points. Also from what I’ve gathered players respect and like Pugh way more than Lee.

This is a good move that will make huge improvements for the offense next season. Count me as another fan who is surprised to read this change. I was hoping that Coach Lee would be able to translate his high-octane offense at the D3 level to do the same at our level -- I guess that was wishful thinking. I simply do not know the coaches as I once did at ACU, so I have never met Pugh. But, his credentials are good and his experience is varied with some really good offenses. The idea that Pugh will tackle both the OC and o-line duties simultaneously scares me a bit. The fact that apparently Pugh has a really good relationship with the players will be a plus for him.

I am in the same boat as you. I expected the high octane from Lee and frankly more unusual/Imaginative play calls. What we got seemed extremely conservative and would only really score a ton of points if you truly had the better athlete and just needed to get them the ball and let them do their thing. We certainly don't seem to have the significant athlete advantage over the other FCS schools that it would take to fully do what Lee did at his last stop. He probably did have the better athletes at the D3 level (given his old school's Texas routes, best in the world D3 stadium and history of winning that would attract top D3 level talent) so his offense worked well.

Former Georgia grad assistant Devonte Danzey will be added as an assistant coach here, most likely OL. He’s a former starting OL from Auburn. He then became a grad assistant at Troy, Indiana and then Georgia

Footballscoop is reporting Danzey will serve as the TE Coach. Wonder if Clark is moving to QB Coach

New grad assistant, Curtis Chiaverini added to the staff. I would assume to work with the WRs'. He is the son of former Colorado star Darrin Chiaverini. Curtis played at Colorado for 3 seasons, before deciding to become a student assistant.
