The team will be reporting in July so I think an announcement will come sooner rather than later.

The new volleyball coach will be announced Wed, July 5th. This is the height of recruiting season. Has the coach(es) been on the road or reaching out to recruits even if not publicly announced? If not, they are way behind.

Wow, I had heard some rumblings about this in the last several days -- I heard that she had been seen in Abilene last week and you don't travel to Abilene from Denmark casually. But, this is still surprising but, very intriguing.
I think there is a lot of upside to hiring IJ. She has been part of ACU volleyball at both the playing and coaching level. She was very, very popular with her teammates as a player and players she coached at ACU (she had a terrific representation at the ACU HofF dinner last year). She understands the ACU culture very well. She has gotten the opportunity to play pro volleyball at a high level in Europe for several years. In the past 5-6 years, she has moved into more of coaching role (part of that time as a player-coach) at both the age-group and professional level. In most of the European nations, there is little interscholastic or intercollegiate competition -- competition in Olympic sports typically comes from the club level. And, club levels start as age group teams and work all the way up to professional teams -- a very different system than we see in the U.S. IJ was also an ace recruiter when she was at ACU -- several of the players she recruited were back at the HofF dinner to honor her.
I got to talk with IJ at the Hall of Fame dinner last year and she seemed so very excited to be back at ACU. Looking back at that conversation, I should have seen that she would jump at a chance to come back. There will certainly be some reverse culture-shock for her and particularly for her husband and 2 children -- her husband is a Dane (also a coach at the club level) and her children have only known living in Denmark. And, IJ has not been a HC at the collegiate level, although one could probably make a case that being a pro coach in Europe is very similar.
I see this hire as a bold, out-of-the-box hire that could pay big dividends for ACU. I just don't see a particularly high likelihood that hiring IJ fails. It will be very interesting who IJ will hire as her head assistant. It will also be interesting to see if she gets to hire 2 assistants, she is the most common number in the WAC. Getting a GA on board quickly will also be important. I don't think there is enough time to get the summer camps up and going and summer camps is typically where many colleges get their money to support a 2nd assistant.
Count me as a VB fan who likes what I see with this hire.

Caution, Caution, Caution. Advise you do not go to site unless you have researched it and determined you are willing to take the risk. The fact that three messages showed up makes me even more suspicious. Our current CatChat has the following known filters our messages go through: c.amazon-adsystem.com, securepubads.g.doubleclick.net, www.googletagmanager.com, www.google-analytics.com, sb.scorecardresearch.com, api.viglink.com At least those are the ones I can track. This means what we say is collected by these sites or at least monitored. Normally trackers collect potential marketing information.
