Each Monday, I will try and update the stats for each player we are recruiting. So far, Green has 49-477 yards rushing, 11 catches for 57 yards receiving with a total of 5 touchdowns.

Just wondering if we are in the running for Hanner Shipley--or has that horse left the stall?

Also saw on a tweet of a picture of Dayne Douglass (Dylan's brother) the caption--ACU recruit.

Hanner must have left on better terms than the CatChatters speculated. Perhaps to get his grades in order. We could sure use him if he's ready to go all in.

I recall some speculation that he thought he was too good for ACU. But grades were certainly #1. He has to graduate from Blinn to go anywhere as a 4-2-4. Can't use his Freshman qualifying any more.

I wasn't exactly sure where to put this, so I thought I would put it on the most recent recruiting thread. My wife ran into an acquaintance yesterday who's son is a high school football recruit. They visited ACU this past weekend, so my wife was explaining to her that our son plays football at ACU and that we really like the school. The mother of the recruit told my wife over and over how sad she felt for the ACU football players because the crowd was so small and quiet and the team was so bad. Her son plays at a large high school in Texas where Friday night crowds are larger than most crowds at ACU games, and the takeaway they had after the weekend was that they liked the school and campus, but they just felt bad for the football program. It pains me to know that is what recruits take away from ACU football right now.

It pains me to know that is what recruits take away from ACU football right now. I mentioned that same thing to Cattitude when I came back from concession stand in the 3rd qtr - how quiet it was under the stands and on the field - it was really quiet. We experienced the same thing (as far as crowds) when we came here for a game when Parker was at Smithson Valley - where crowds are usually in the 8 to 10 thousand range for a home game. It's tough for any player coming from that environment - Texas high school football is in many cases is BIGGER (and better equipped) than many of the college teams across the country! The ACU on campus stadium will definitely help - in many areas & many ways. Parker had 2 offers - No. Texas Sate & the partial scholarship at ACU. What made the difference was someone (other than me) explaining to him that A) he's not going to the NFL and B) based on that fact, was it better to get your education from a world class private university or a second rate Texas public college? That sealed the deal. For what it's worth, I will continue to say that no matter what happens/happened on the football field while at ACU, Parker is a better person today than he was when he arrived at campus in 2012, and in December he will receive a degree from that world class private university! Football (as a player) will soon be over & gone - but you can't take away that piece of paper he going to get in return! So - let those folks know that the education for their son is a WHOLE LOT BETTER for the future than a few years of glory playing football at (any) college level.

Would that more high school seniors got that kind of frank advice. I think I read somewhere that about 2% of college players make it to the league. For the rest it's about the quality of education they receive and the quality of life on campus.
