Baseball starts their season on Feb. 17th so I just wanted to get a thread started about how we think the team will do. They have an easier first part of the schedule since they play their first 14 games at home but how many they'll win is up for debate. Hopefully we're able to avoid the annual tradition of the mass exodus of players and not lose a ton of players and especially not the freshman who saw a lot of playing time. And hopefully the freshman coming in have more power, because we are seriously lacking in that department. If we do lose players I think it'll be another disappointing year. But if we're able to hold on to most players I think this team will be improved from last years. So my prediction is 16-20 overall wins and around 8-11 conference wins which would put us in the lower tier of the conference.

i went out there for some of the fall games and recognized only several returners crippen, draper, scott, ruot, the lambrights and kornely. i'm curious to see if the new coaching staff makes any impact on the offense - hit .241 last spring with 9 HR. opponents hit 35 and a 2.34 ERA vs the cats. haven't see too much out there about any of the newcomers so i'm going in with low expectations and just hoping to be surprised.

Up 1-0 against Sparty. Lambright is dealing right now.

Tough loss. Way too many mistakes. I hope this isn't a recurring theme throughout this year as it was last year.

If it is it could be the last year for coach B.

Tough day. Looks like a doubleheader loss. Pitching staff getting pummeled. We've scored some runs but giving up 9-9-17 does not add up to wins.

Baseball program has been embarrassing. It's one sport where I'd thought it would be easier to have success when we announced the d1 move. It's been the least successful.

It's kind of funny, in the past we've had decent pitching but our problem has been with offense. Now it appears we have the offense but not the pitching.

A veteran coach with D1 experience. Great facilities. Yeah, baseball will lead the way as we transition to D1. Or so I imagined. I thought tennis and track would do well, too, along with women's bb and soccer.

Baseball is probably at the most disadvantage because Britt has to recruit head to head with JCs for the better players. Plus, high school baseball is not so strong west of DFW.

Our baseball team has been mediocre for a long time. Recruiting and retaining players has always seemed to be an issue.

That's really all we have going for us at the moment.
