Johnathan Nicholson has committed. He was formerly at Texas Tech and graduated from Abilene Cooper. He is playing this year at Midland College.

Is Nicholson a player? Kin to Nick?

Our pitching is...pathetic.

12 losses in a row and one conference win.

Don't be negative. We did have the lead for 1 inning in the series.

The Southland is a solid baseball conference. We need to upgrade a lot or we are going to have a whole succession of years like the last two. Win some preseason games then get hammered on conference.

Our offensive stats are still way up there. We’ve faced the best pitchers in our conference and we’re hitting the crap out of the ball. The hitting coach is doing a fantastic job. I’m guessing that’s Coach Bonneau.
The list of injured players is a mile long. I don’t know if that’s bad luck, or if our strength & conditioning guy and/or training staff isn’t doing a good job. I’m not sure how you would gauge that. Too bad we don’t have a minor league system to pull from. We’re stuck playing with what we’ve got.
We have a gaping hole at 3rd base. The number of errors at that spot far outweighs any other. I hope we’re out shopping for one right now for next year.
Speaking of shopping: We have NO pitching. I have no idea if that’s because of recruiting or coaching. Or both. Luckily, we’ve got one of the best recruiters out there now. Of course, that’s not going to help us until next season. I wish we would have hired Coach Evans a couple of years ago. I have a lot of faith in his ability to pull in talent. It will be interesting to see who he’s been talking to and signing. If the problem is coaching, I think it may be time for Coach Bonneau to start shopping for a new pitching coach. Who knows.
Hopefully the worst is behind us and we can get a few healthy, find a 3rd baseman, and pray hard for pitching in the 2nd half.

I'm far away from the program and basically just watch live stats. Who is the "ace" recruiter? Evans. Who is injured? Yes, our immediate need is at pitcher. A college team shouldn't be giving up double digit runs every time out.

Three more losses. Bonneau says "We just can't get over the hump." I think it's way more than that at this point in the season. We seem to have above average hitting but zero ability to stop giving up runs. Do we have any talent on the mound on our roster? Are we getting better or worse? Who is close to this team and can give insight? Surely the lack of 3rd base play can't be the cause of so many losses.

At this point I'm not even willing to say we have a potent offense. If we had the most spectacular offense then we would overcome the significant pitching problems. Sure pitching must be awful, but offense isn't good enough to overcome so say what you want about how well we are hitting, it's still not good enough.

I have to admit I don't follow baseball much unless the teams names are the Red Sox or Astros. Went to the Southland site and checked out the standings. Took awhile to scroll down and find the Cats position. 1-17 in conference? Is this a missprint?

Injuries answer:
1) Dalon Farkas - starting 2nd baseman - hamstring and shoulder injuries - now DH’s or pinch hits at the end of the game - has even played in left & right - can't run at full speed - can bat, but can’t throw
2) Hunter Markwardt - center field - FAST - hamstring injury early in the season - came in one game after sitting out and hurt it again immediately - only has 6 AB’s
3) Doug Dyer - RHP - hurt elbow (I think - I can’t remember clearly on this one, but he hasn’t pitched in one game this year, so probably)
4) Bryce Hill - RHP - season-ending arm injury 1st weekend - Tommy John surgery
5) Case Rolen - RHP - hurt (I think - was slated to start 3rd game against Sam Houston & didn’t - hasn’t pitched since, so probably)
6) Willie Harris - FAST - knee injury before season started
7) Luis Trevino - starting catcher - arm injury - DH’s and sometimes plays 1st base now - can bat, but can’t throw
8) Hunter Hays - I don’t know if he’s injured, but I’m guessing he must be. They’ve tried everybody but him at 3rd (even a pitcher), and I can’t imagine him not playing unless he was hurt.
Eight is a lot. I'm not sure how you manage a team with a quarter of your players significantly injured. I think they're doing what they can.
