Maybe be the lack of OL bodies is due to some off season surgeries, that none of us are privy to.

90, that's thinner than I thought. I was counting 11 in the spring. Laws, Niccum, Hisler, Melde, Mayfield , Reiken all with starting experience. A. Anderson, Etuk, Giddens. Crisp and of course S Anderson. Have we lost some linemen we don' know about or are the guys who had off season surgery not ready to go? Absolutely agree with your comments about linemen needing time for development. I am very encouraged that dorrel has a lot of experience developing players, especially at the OL position. Dont want to speak to injury issues on public forum but the surgeries we know about it is my understanding that they will more than likely be held out of spring. Back for fall when we need them basically! leaves us very thin for the spring!

It concerns me not only from a repetition stand point and learning the offense, but also from a workout/conditioning standpoint. We need depth and we need improved push on the OL.

Hero Sports ranks our class #46 in the FCS, third in the LSC behind #4 Sam Houston State and #18 SFA. They identify Dante Williams as our top recruit. He is our only entry in their top 250 FCS recruits list. Not sure how Remington Lutz didn't make the list. File this ranking in the for what it's worth department. herosports.com/news/fcs-recruiting-top-50-recruiting-classes-2017

I agree with you completely but also would hate to lose anyone in the fall because of spring ball. It seems like numbers on the o-line are always a struggle in the spring. One spring ball back when I was playing, we only had 9 OL and only three guards. So essentially Cameron Rosser (The other starting guard) and I traded off every other snap for the second team huddle. That was the hardest spring ball of my life and several times at the end of practice Cameron and I hugged each other in celebration that we survived. The next spring, we were short numbers again and the day of our spring game one of our back up tackles was sick so I found out about 10 minutes before the game that I was going to have to also play tackle for the second team for most of the spring game, despite not having a single rep at tackle since HS. It was fun but really wore you out to take so many snaps. My heart goes out to this years o line in the face of so many reps. You know they will be going 100 mph to try and impress AD so it will be hard to take any plays off to catch their breath. At least we will have well conditioned guys up front, as old Coach Rippee would say the "Skinny Hogs"

From Twitter: Fun FCS fact from @herosportsfcs: Nearly 600 FCS recruits for 2017 were 2 or 3 star rated. More than 400 held FBS offers along with FCS.

It is disappointing that we didn't get some higher rated recruits this year, just choosing to believe in the ones we got to step up and prove themselves.

It's such a weird industry.
I do think Houston Baptist signed some good players though. I'm not sure what their recruiting pitch is but for an unproven program from an unappealing location in Houston with unappealing facilities they are making it work.

It is disappointing that we didn't get some higher rated recruits this year, just choosing to believe in the ones we got to step up and prove themselves. I agree that we got players with the character we want who are eager to step up and I think we have a staff in place to help coach them up. I think coaching and player development while critical at the FBS level, is even more important at the FCS and D2 levels. I was really pretty impressed that we put together a class recognized by at least one service as being in the top 50 nationally and close to the top of our conference. I was surprised given our late start. Also, I was impressed we were able to get a foot in the door with some recruits who were already committed elsewhere. We didn't get them to come to ACU but we got a pair of twins who both play DB to look at us even though they were committed to Sam Houston. Both twins and their mama started following a couple of our coaches. When you get the mama on board, that's usually a good sign. I am thinking with an earlier start, we will get more players like these in the future.
