OK boys, I gotta jump in on this. 'Tude, I luv you like a brother but I will must side with OWC when it comes to UGA. I'm was born and raised in Atlanta and grew up hearing that the only good thing about GA Tech was its proximity to The Varsity! We wore red & black on Saturday, Vince Dooley could do no wrong & the ONLY college football in GA was played between the hedges.
Bogey, for you I'm hoping that the all the Alabama defensive players that were hurt during the last half of the season are not back to 100% before the game. If they are still thin on defense, Clemson wins handily. If Alabama is back to full strength, Clemson still has the edge with a superior offense, but it's a toss up - I'm thinking its going to be very close - no more than one possession difference in the final score.
UGA vs. OU. Parker and Baker Mayfield played their last high school game against each other in the Alamodome (Lake Travis vs. Smithson Valley - 2012). It was a brawl/very physical game. In those days, Baker ran more than he threw. And when he threw, he had a 6'5" receiver with the last name of Shipley! Parker had more yardage passing, but Lake Travis won the game. Baker kinda had (maybe still does) that cocky Johnny Manzel type attitude, only with less drama. You can get under his skin - the key will be for UGA to keep continuous pressure, keep the pocket closed off and get him frustrated. Final score? I think Mayfield/OU gets 3 touchdowns, but that won't help with UGA's running game and the 4 touchdowns they will score. UGA by 10. Sorry 'Tude, but gotta be a Homer on this one!
So UGA vs. Alabama or Clemson. Either way, that game could sell out 3 stadiums! I'm thinking it's going to be Clemson. I believe Clemson has the superior offense. Alabama just doesn't seem to have that stable of NFL type RB's that they "normally" have and their QB just doesn't appear to have the "fire" needed to get the job done.
National Champs? too close to call - UGA/Clemson in a toss up
