It's amazing how Baker has NFL GM's drooling when he was slated as 2nd or 3rd rd. pick at beginning of the season. I think he's the 2nd QB taken over Darnold or Rosen.

I think Baker Mayfield is the next Johnny Football. I'll be surprised if he can a) stay in the NFL for long and b) not have social disasters like ole Johnny.

That would be a good comparison except that Manziel had/has a serious alcohol problem. He's been a partier. Baker, on the other hand is a film room junkie. I think Baker has the stuff to be a Russell Wilson or Drew Brees. There's nothing about Mayfield that's like Manziel.

Are you forgetting at DUI in Arkansas last year? Or am I dreaming?

Are you forgetting at DUI in Arkansas last year? Or am I dreaming? Nope, didn't forget. But it hasn't been a pattern-unlike Jonnie Football. Not excusing it either, but there's no rumors around Norman of a problem. Hey! I knew a guy who got a little toasted with his friend from David Lipscomb while they were in the Army in South Carolina. Got picked up by the MPs for Drunk & Disorderly for singing acapella hymns at the top of their voices at 2:00 am. Same guy had a major headache the next day and never, ever did it again. He turned out all right.

Maybe the social decisions won't be as bad (I truly hope not), but I'm not sure if he'll be as viable in the NFL as a player. None of the main draft analysts have in him in the top three or four...the highest I saw was fifth. His height is a problem and many site his footwork, arm strength and trouble reading quick defenses as problematic. We'll see. Hope a Texas boy does well!

As a person who watches every game, Baker extends plays to pass. He's a leader and I bet his arm strength surprises people and will be up there with Rosen and Darnold. Josh Allen probably has a stronger arm though.

He's way better than Colt McCoy and Colt has managed to stay employed in the NFL.
Seriously, so many factors go into winning one of only a few NFL jobs. Like Boomer, I rarely miss a game and I cant say whether he'll be a star, but he will have a career in the league, IMHO..
Meanwhile, while Baker is in trading camp, the Canines of Bull will still be trying to figure out how OU scored 50 on them.

[/b] It will give the Dawgs something to think about on the flight to the national championship after hanging 52 on OU’s defense.
