What ever happened to those big Samoan (?) twins from the metroplex? Did they ever end up playing anywhere?

And he played as a true freshman I believe. So likely no intense weight room regimen or meal plan. Thanks for setting me straight. We darn sure need a left tackle. Might I remind you that we still have someone on our roster that was All-Conference Left Tackle as a sophomore in 2016.

True, true - Catmasters! Didn't Dakota end up the year at guard this year. Is guard his best position? We HAVE some good o-linemen on the roster already - I just hope that we can get the right combination together that can make a difference in 2018.

Dakota was going to play Guard in the Northwestern game due to injuries at that position, but he was injured on the 1st drive and missed the rest of the game and next game. He then played Tackle in a limited role against UCA. Guard is probably where he would be best utilized, but he's pretty versatile. I did see that we signed another OL named Dakota!

ACU may be the only school in the nation that will have 2 o-linemen named Dakota! I don't think it will be difficult to keep "Laws" and "Napierkowski" separate. I imagine that the game announcer and the radio broadcaster (Grant Boone) will no doubt prefer to call Dakota Laws.

That being said, I want another stud to line up next to him during his senior year and then play LT after Dakota graduates.

That’s a good core to start with but they couldn’t all stay on the field together last year. I'm not saying this to be pessimistic, I'm asking a genuine question...is it a good core? Quite a few times last year there were complaints about the OL and we were returning 3-4 starters. So at this point we are returning 3 starters. Are we blaming our offensive line woes on the two graduating seniors? New offense? Lack of depth behind the starters? Injuries? Or were we overmatched?

I think the answer to all of those questions is Yes! All of the above! I think we have some talent returning on the OL, but all of the reasons you listed are reasons the whole was not very good. I have no reason other than blind faith that we will be better up front next year. I don’t think our seniors were our most talented OLmen. So that would mean that our better linemen are returning after a full year of this scheme, and another offseason strength program, plus transfers pushing for jobs. I could make a case that our OL will be much improved next year.

We still don't know exactly why, but all of our OL shrunk last year except for Weber who wasn't in our off season. So we are trying to play in D1 with guys that in some cases were weighing in the 260s. Perhaps there was an effort to get some of them in overall better shape - I don't know - but reports were that they did cardio and stretching and not much lifting. Maybe once or twice per week?
There was not a game last year that we won the up front battle. (I did not see Incarnate Word) Even HBU. So when we bring in skinny JUCO linemen I can't help but groan. I like Dakota2 on film but he's only going to be a true soph. Melde at times was horrible plus he was hurt as was Dakota1. Weber was just okay but probably out of position. AndersonA was out all year and Etuk and Giddens are now playing defense and tight end respectively. Which leaves us with Crisp and Parmely and AndersonS and Ty Lovette among those with any experience at all. Doesn't breed a lot of confidence in me.
So which of the redshirts is ready to step up? Bird? Ohlen? Mark? Hendrix? Gunnoe? It's not just about the starters. Do we have guys who can play 10-20 snaps per game with no drop off. On paper I don't see 10 D1 ready linemen.
At least this year they will all be together for Spring and for off season. But to my mind we still need 2 big transfers - guys who are 3rd, 4th, or 5th year players.
