A proposal sponsored by the ACC calls for players who participate in four games or fewer to retain their redshirt status. The NCAA Division I Council is scheduled to vote on the measure in April. If approved, then ratified by the board of directors, freshmen nationally may test the waters in football as soon as this fall without exhausting a season of eligibility. I really like this rule as it would really help out with depth especially late in the season. If there was something like this in place last season guys like Bird, Hendrix or Williams could've played and really helped out. link to the story

With 2 games out of the way I'm going to take a stab at the Freshman who I think will and won't be redshirted, barring a rash of injuries of course.
Will: Tucker Horn, Dewaylon Jones, Bryon Broussard, Phillip Dixon, TJ Williams, Mitchell Melrose, Trase Jeffries and all of the walkons minus Kobe Clark.
Won't: Tyrese White, D'Wayne Anthony, Javorian Miller, Kobe Clark, Quent Titre.
The OL was definitely the toughest to determine since I could see all of the freshman getting quite a bit of playing time. Anyone else wanna make a prediction?

1997, all your redshirt predictions make a lot of sense to me.

I’m gonna say Tucker Horn’s red shirt may be yanked at any moment Luke is injured. Otherwise, I agree he’s RS candidate.
If Laws stays healthy D’Wayne Anthony may well red shirt as well.

If Luke went down I think they would try to make it work with Davis and Klayman before turning to Horn. I see your point on Anthony, It's just hard to pin down the OL because you can really make a case for either redshirting or not for all the freshman.

Klayman was in shorts last weekend. Horn worked in the backup role for most of last week in practice.

Didn't Horn get more reps in the final Fall Scrimmage as well?

Horn got a lot of reps in that final scrimmage because he was playing for the “scout team” against the 1’s and 2’s. He definitely showed some guts and poise while running for his life all night.

Yes, which is why I remembered him. I think he was handling the pressure better than Klayman. I always saw the potential Klayman has, but I thought he needed more time to develop it. Horn needs to develop as well, but seems to be just a step ahead. I would hate to have to pull either of them in too early, but understand if it had to happen.

Klayman did not play in the final scrimmage. He is working through an injury.
Also, I think this staff sees Dewaylon Jones ahead of Javorian Miller. Jones has received a lot more playing time. That being said, he did not have his best game last week.

I want to clarify that I think Horn is talented and has a very bright future. I'm not against him seeing the field this year if he is truly our best option if Anthony goes down.
