We are on the wrong end of a 10-3 score in the bottom of the 7th. I believe I counted 11 times we've struck out. We've gone thru about 6 pitchers. I'm ready for the off season but addicted to our sports. Somebody shoot me!!!

I think this pretty much kills our tournament chances. I think we needed to win 4 of 6 to have even a slight chance. I am pulling for Trevino to win the triple crown.

I saw that there will be a home run derby before the SLC tourney. I hope Trevino gets invited. He hasn’t gotten much recognition so far. It’s hard to believe he’s only been POW once all season.

That’s too bad. I’m tired of being irrelevant in Baseball and Softball. I hope McCarty and the new coach are able to turn that around.

The baseball 'Cats ended the season with a three-game sweep of Nicholls that allowed ACU to pull into a tie for 9th place with the Colonels. Looking at the won-loss record, this year was a rousing success compared to last season (really, the last several seasons).
Overall W-L: 2019 - 26-26 (first .500 season in several years); 2018 - 21-33
Home W-L: 2019 22-11; 2018 (17-15) -- it never hurts to play well in front of the home folks
Conference W-L: 2019 - 13-17 (if we finish 15-15, we are in the tourney); 2018 - 5-25 (we were last and a full 4 games out of next-to-last) -- undoubtedly, this was the big improvement this year, we remained competitive in the SLC all season
Batting: 2019 - .275 BA, 43 home runs, 292 RBI (5.6 earned runs per game); 2018 - .274 BA; 26 HR; 271 RBI (5.1 earned runs per game) -- the biggest difference here is the huge improvement in home runs
Pitching: 2019 - 5.52 ERA, 194 walks, 349 K's; 2018 - 5.88 ERA, 193 BB's; 342 K's -- slight improvement in ERA and strikeouts.
The new coaching staff ended up with a definite improvement over the previous year, even though there were not any seismic improvement in hitting or pitching. Both hitting and pitching improved once we got into conference, and we saw a huge improvement in conference. And, this was with a team that was very similar in personnel from the previous year.
The 2020 season will be particularly telling, since this next team will be largely made up of players recruited by Coach McCarty and his assistants. I really like what I saw this year!

From this group, we could have several players that get drafted June 3-5.
Trevino will likely go in the top 15 rounds
Others that could get selected: Dalon Farkas- 308 avg, 46 RBI
Derek Scott- down year, but he is an incredible athlete
Starter Spencer Chirpich- 7-4 record and the ace of the staff. As a junior, if drafted, he would have a decision to make. Come back for his Sr. year or take the money and start a pro career
Closer Brennan Lewis- 2.21 ERA with 10 saves. Ability to go multiple innings could make him very valuable.

Super season by Trevino. Farkas came thru in a great way. Having a starter like Chirpich really helped us. Anxious to see the 2020 team in action.

Good way to end. Trending upwards. I'm convinced this staff will take us to the next level.

Agree with the comments above. I was looking at the record theother night after win #2 against Nicholls and said to myself how great it would be to sweep the series and end up at .500. I think the progress we made will only continue. Both our over-all and conference record are really big improvements.

Trevino named player of the year in the conference. Farkas was named to the 2nd team and Chirpich and Br. Lewis were honorable mentions.
