It is hard to wrap ones head around all the stats that are available but here is what I don't understand. To date less than 1/10th of 1% of the "general population" under the age of 25 has been affected seriously (death/ICU) by this virus. Football players are among the healthiest people on the planet. So far it seems the chance of a healthy football player (athlete) under the age of 25 getting or being seriously affected by this virus is almost statistically impossible but the NCAA seems oblivious of this fact. I hear media people saying "look at the science" but then seemingly doing just the opposite. Can things change--of course? Do I have all the answers--absolutely not? Should we err on the side of caution--yes? But I just see the current position as being ridiculous. Will we shut down our colleges next year when a new virulent strain of flu starts affecting colleges all over the US? If a coach has a highly contagious illness, will the team be put in isolation for 14 days? If a cheerleader has a cough, will the 1st 3 rows of spectators be contacted and tested? Will students be "chipped" at registration, so the administration can track where they go and whoever they talk too? We're plodding down a very serious path, methinks.
On 2nd thought, the idea of "chipping" students has some real positives--did so and so break curfew? Did this athlete break training? Sarah missed church 3 times this month, we should phone her parents. Does Joe know he's supposed to attend chapel? Bill parked in a restricted parking lot yesterday. What's Jill doing in Frank's room at 1 a.m.? Real possibilities!

Chipping students? Yeah, don't see that happening at all. There would be lawsuits waiting to happen.
I laughed a little bit, that you think we should call a students parents about attending church. First, a lot of the parents don't go to church, and I would bet that only 30% of the ACU student body attends church once a month.
