Just heard that the women report on Monday. Hopefully I can get in to watch practice some. Can’t wait to see the new players.

While doing my daily walk in the Wellness Center this morning, I got a chance to see Emborsky and Griswold running some drills with Mraz and Adams. Not much to tell about the encounter except I note that Griswold is at least as tall as Adams - maybe a bit taller than Lexi D - and likely more athletic though probably not as strong as Lexi.

What’s the next step for WBB? Perineal SLC champions? A higher seed in the NCAA? A first round win in post season play? Top 10 women’s mid major ranking? Is this class good enough for us to take the next step, whatever that may be?

I see an overlap between the goal of obtaining a better seed and winning a post season game. Sixteen seeds are matched against the best teams in the field of 64, and almost never win.

A post season win will help both seeding and ranking.

I am confident that if the 2020 team had won the tournament, they would not have been a 16 seed. The committee tends to reward teams that return to the tournament and our record would have been 28-4. Plus our rating would have been decent. Probably top 100.
The next step - in my mind - is to be year in and year out the best team in the SLC. If we are perineal champs, we will have opportunities for higher seeds and we will at some point pull off the huge upset.
By the way, that huge gasp that you heard was the other 12 SLC coaches when they saw our 2021 recruits.

I would first say that the first huge step is to actually get this outstanding class enrolled in ACU. I would have to think some of the more prestigious schools might well start to look at some of the individual members of this class and think they can recruit them away from ACU. Julie has done a fantastic job of getting commits to the campus in the past and that will be item 1.
If we continue this upward trend in overall team quality and get this class of '21 to campus, then I believe that winning a NCAA tourney game (or two) will be the goal. And, as virtually everyone has posted above, that will require ACU getting a #12-#14 seeding.
This coming season (based on the assumption that there will be a coming season) will be very interesting. ACU has lost three integral cogs to the machine in Dom Golightly, Bree Wright, and Lexie Ducat. We have 4 seniors who could be really good returning (who will seize the leadership mantle?), 2 interesting transfers, and 4 freshmen. If Coach Goodenough and her assistants can build this team into a unit and get this team to a NCAA tourney or into a deep run in the WNIT, this 2021 class will be even more frightening to our SLC foes.

With the 6 new players this year and the 5 commits for next, Julie has almost totally revamped the roster and starting line up in just 2 years. And if it's possible made this team better. Kudos to this coaching staff for all its hard work.

TF, About losing recruits. Sure if TAMU or UT decides they want one of our recruits we could lose them. Looking at it from a glass half full perspective though, our program has reached a level that we are as or more prestigious than the other mid major programs in our area, so it isn’t as likely we lose a recruit to UTEP or NMSU. I hope I live long enough to see our football program at this level.

In case you didn’t see this ....
Not only is this motivating for the 2020-21 team, but recruits be lining up to play here for Coach Goodenough.

Texas Tech just fired the women’s basketball coach following allegations of abuse by several members of the team the last 2 years.
Even though I do not believe that Julie has any interest, no doubt she will be on the list. Makes me a little nervous.

On the otherhand maybe there will be defections from that program. Isn't there one player who was close to signing with us?

I will be very surprised if Goodenough has any interest in Tech. I think she got her taste of the "big school system" and prefers what she has at ACU.
