Last year, ACU announced 17 early signees.
Tranfers-3
JUCO Transfers- 5
HS Commits- 9
For the most part, the HS players that signed early with us ended up having the better season this year and typically the most playing time amongst the newcomers.
QB Earle
RB Dobbins
WR Lewis
OL Burke
OL Howerton
OL Ty Smith
DE Hart
CB Satterfield
S Moffett
A couple of other reminders:
-The HS early signing period only remains open for 3 days -- Dec 16-18, then it closes again until the 2nd signing period begins from Feb 3-April 1 (the 2nd period used to stay open until August 1, but that changed a year ago).
-The transfer early signing period also opens on Dec 16, but it stays open until January 15 - basically until the spring semester begins.
-Last year, ACU did a signing press release around the 2nd day of the early signing period
-Then, when the signing period opened again February, ACU put out another release that had 11 HS signees and formally announced 5 mid-term transfers -- ones that committed after the early signing period announcement was made.
-Again, I like how the late signing period also had a big emphasis on freshmen. The freshmen in this 2nd batch were: Seth Bower, Cameron Byrom, Noah Caldwell, Max Gayden, Jonah Harrison, Dennis Herrold, Austin Lozano, Cooper McCasland, Sean McKenney, Easton Myrick, and Trace Price. McKenney never made it to campus. Harrison left sometime during the fall semester. Lozano saw lots of playing time.
-Also, Kam Stokes was listed among the mid-term group last February, even though he graduated from HS that fall -- he played extensively this season and started 1 game.
Hoping to see another HS laden signing group this Wednesday.
