I guess that in essence we will have 8 "conference" games -- the 4 WAC schools in Texas, possibly WAC member Dixie State, and the 3 temporary conference members who are transitioning to the Big South. Southern Utah will not be a conference game since they will still be a member of the Big Sky next year. That game will not be a "money" game either -- that is technically the 2nd game of the home and home set of games with them -- their visit to Abilene was knocked out this past fall. So, the only money game may end up being SMU and that will not be nearly the payday at the level as the TAMU game or the Mississippi State game. If ACU ends up with 4 "conference" games, then you may only see one other home game where we have to pay someone, unless we can get a home and home set with another FCS school. I’d hope we would be looking for another home and away series against another FCS school, maybe even one of our old Southland conference mates since they too will be scrambling to fill schedules. Would our banishment prevent that?

No, according to FBSschedules, ACU already had games on the schedule starting in 2022 with HBU and UIW. Kinda surprised we don't see it yet for 2021. I think it is the LA schools who have been pushing for the Texas 4 banishment.

My first take...
This is a tough schedule. There is a lot of long haul travel@ Southern Utah, @ Eastern Ky, @ Jacksonville State (Alabama)
It’s interesting that we play Lamar twice.
We still need one game on either 9/18 or 10/23

The caliber of the home games has increased exponentially. Hopefully they will attract a few more fans than games with Arizona Christian.
I am disappointed that we play both Jacksonville St and Eastern KY on the road. Either would be a great addition to the home schedule. Sam Houston, meanwhile plays both at home.
Oct 23 looks like a perfect time for an open date.

The above schedule has 4 home games out of 10. There is a hole in the schedule on Sept 18. I think you will see a game against somebody on Sept 18 (ACU desperately wants to host a "parents weekend game" in 2021 and usually that is in September. The annual Presidents' Circle Dinner has also been postponed until the fall and the hope is to have dinner or lunch in tandem with a home game, preferably early in the season. That might also require a game on Sept 18 where we have to buy someone to come to the campus and that usually means a game against a lower tier (D-II/NAIA) team. I was about to put that meant a "patsy" game, but one of those so-called "patsies" (Angelo State) pinned our hides to the wall last fall.
Is 2021 a year that ACU can play 12 games? I have heard scuttlebutt that ACU athletics would love to host 6 home games in 2021 and that would necessitate a 12 game schedule and the Wildcats would have to fill Sept 18 and Oct 23 with home games.
The WAC-ASUN AQ7 gambit appears to be a winning proposition for ACU and the Texas4. It is only a 1-year solution, but it gives the WAC another year to get another FCS school into the fold before the 2022 season to reach the needed 6 eligible teams.

No, 2021 is not a year when we can schedule 12 games. I’d hope that rather than buying a one off game with a NAIA team we look for a FCS team to play at home with a return game at their place next year.

So I guess that the "6 home game scuttlebutt" is a pipe dream, since we only have 1 game available.

That’s interesting. Less travel, for sure. I guess not being able to play our home game against southern Utah last fall cancelled the series?

Hmmm. A D3 game. Not a fan. On the other hand, there are six games and the last 4 are tough.

Hmmm. A D3 game. Not a fan. On the other hand, there are six games and the last 4 are tough. IMO, when you make playing at home a priority, you get what you may afford. Sell more tix, get bigger name opponents. As Deep Throat kept saying in “All The President’s Men”, “Follow the money.”
