I’m not Lane Kiffin fan but I may have to begrudgingly cheer for Ole Miss. I’m thrilled to see JD moving up,
Edit to add: Kiffin is on Tennessee’s list of HC candidates. I hope he doesn’t leave JD behind if he moves to Knoxville.

Likewise, as much as he might seem to be the answer, I can’t imagine a more devisive personality in Big Orange football history. Oh well—maybe 2020 hasn’t ended after all🤪!!

Given his history with UTK I was surprised to see Kiffin’s name mentioned.

I am thrilled to see this opportunity for John David -- it couldn't happen to a nicer guy! JD has a long legacy at ACU and he continues to keep contact with ACU. The past 2 times I have talked to him were at funerals -- he returned to Abilene for Wally Bullington's funeral and for his academic mentor, Jim Cooke's.
I imagine that now JD has pretty much priced himself out of the market to ever return to ACU as a coach.

Probably better to say that it lowers the likelihood, but there are a lot of people who work at ACU who take a lot less money to work there than if they worked elsewhere.

No word on what his salary will be but he’s replacing Joe Jon Finley who made $475,000 before leaving to take a position on the OU staff.

J.D has spent several years working under Graham Harrell and learning the Air Raid offense. At Ole Miss he’ll work with Jeff Lebby, who is Art Briles son in law and runs the Briles Baylor offense. The opportunity to learn from two up and coming coaches who run prolific offenses should strengthen his skill set and resume.
