Pretty poor planning on ACU's part to hire someone and then lay them off because of budget a couple of months later.

A longtime coach felt no one is losing their jobs because of budgets, but wasn't too surprised to learn they're having the youngsters take on added responsibilities instead of replacing Drew Long and Susan Hardcastle. Worth noting too is the number of coaches and staffs who have seen new contracts in recent months. Their feeling was jobs are secure, but wish lists for equipment and travel are being trimmed.
As it pertains to football assistants like Masker, many of these kids are living off little more Bean Bucks so I'm not surprised they quickly bolt when another opportunity arises. Same for Rob Bennett, who would have been foolish to turn down the job at Louisville. I sincerely hope Tom is able to find a quality replacement to continue the team's recent success. Good luck to all.

About the only conclusion I can draw from the obvious frustration and paranoia is that this staff has been put on notice. In previous years I’ve had nothing but positive conversations with Darrel and his coaches who seemed excited that fans might actually want to attend practice. These are signs of a man who is losing his grip. This level of anxiety to keep things secret is going to quickly wear out any welcome he has left. My money is going on a coaching search around Christmas.
