Exciting time for the finals to determine the challenger to New Zealand for the America's Cup. The first race is scheduled for tonight (Feb.12th) at 9 pm CST on NBC Sports, which is channel 43 on Suddenlink. There are two races each day so race one and two are tonight. It is Luna Rosa (Italy) against Britannia (The U.K.) Not sure of channel on Direct TV.

The Italians sailed two near perfect wins and are now heavy favorites to be New Zealand's opponent in the Cup series. For those that do watch, a couple of key things to know. When the wind is coming over the right side of the boat (Starboard), the boat has right of way. When a boat is down wind of a boat on the same tack (both starboard or both port, meaning left side) the downwind boat has right of way. Downwind is called leeward. So boats approaching an upwind rounding mark on the same tack requires the windward (up wind) boat to yield the inside turn to the leeward boat, unless they are clear ahead and can leave the rounding before the leeward boat gets there. The racing last night had examples of these rules but there is not much discussion about these technicalities, and what I have said is pretty incomplete.
Tonight (Feb 13th) things resume on Suddenlink 43 at 9:30 pm.

And the next races are Tuesday, Feb. 16, at 9 PM on Suddenlink 43. Luna Rosa up 4-0 so it might be interesting to see if the Brits get more offensive.
Now postponed due to National Covid-19 guidelines... next races maybe in three days.

Luna Rosa (Italy) kicked the Brits badly so the America's Cup will be Italy vs. New Zealand.

If you would like a quick video of the series finals, this is a great one. Just imagine these beasts going 45 to 50 miles an hours and weaving back and forth.
