We draw Lamar tomorrow night.
On paper this is a great matchup, but Lamar is riding a win streak and is playing with a lot of confidence.
Gotta keep them from hitting behind the arc. Buster can get hot and Kopp is a decent shooter as well. Their young point guard will want to attack the rim and Sullivan is a wide body down low.
Our pregame write up says Gayman and Mason are both healthy and available. Let’s up we don’t show up rusty and don’t press mentally and just play our game. If we defend the perimeter well and hit free throws we will be fine.

SFA lurker back. You’re going to be playing a 7 man Lamar team that will be playing their third game in three days. Honestly, you have the easiest draw to the NCAA’s in years. Good luck. I’ve been betting on you all year. Purple SLC champions.

ACU's extended perimeter defense should give the Cardinals some challenges as they will be playing their third game in three days. I do hope the Cats learned something from that UCA loss about not gambling and fouling unnecessarily 65-feet from the basket. There's no reason to put Lamar in the bonus. Make them earn every shot they take.
In the last 6 minutes of their game against Sam, Lamar was gutting it out. There wasn't a lot of passing in their offense, just clear-outs and one-on-one takes from beyond the top of the circle. I was a little surprised that Sam allowed them to keep the ball in the hands of their point guard and didn't try to disrupt what they were doing (with a zone trap or a double team).
Lamar showed great poise, did not turn the ball over and got just enough shots to win.

I’m surprised but one thing I noticed when we played Sam is that they can become one-dimensional. Nutall scored 33 against us but he took 35 shots. That slowed their O to a crawl.

Nutall took 24 shots against us in Abilene. He hit 13 of them.
He took bad shots last night to finish. For us talented as he is he got out over his skis when all they needed to do was attack the rim.

We match up well on paper and we have beaten them twice already. We do know how to defend them. Add that to it being their 3rd game in 3 days chorus and I also agree that this is the best pairing we could have hoped for this tourney. My biggest issue for us is rust. If we stayed focused and practiced well, we should be ok. Sorry, I used the "should" word. I think our guys can win. I am just leaving it in their hands. With Gayman and Mason back, that just works in our favor even more. I think we learned our UCA lesson. Now it's time to prove ourselves worthy of dancing again.

I don’t think rust is really any worry at all at this point. They’ve played an entire season of games and also played last Saturday, so not even a full week between games. They had longer breaks than that between games throughout the season and looked fine so rust isn’t a worry for me.

I don’t know how many of you guys will be in Katy tonight. I will be the grey haired guy in the ACU polo shirt and Kinsmen baseball cap. Look forward to seeing you there.

I would expect we might get out of the gates slowly since we haven't played in almost a week, but in the second half I expect that to be a huge advantage. Fairly close first half, but we pull away in the second half as we get rolling and Lamar feels the effects of a third tournament game in three days. I'll add that we are 10-5 ATS in conference play and are -14 tonight according to ESPN's PickCenter.

At end of a long season, six days rest is the equivalent of an open date. I’m not one who believes in “rust”. Lamar has a 7 man rotation. I think our depth is going to be too much for them. I’m taking ACU and giving the points.

I will be yelling from home - my kids bought me the Apple TV and it’s been awesome watching ACU on ESPN+ - I’ve watched most of the games - still thinking about driving down tomorrow to the finals if we make it - Glad to see GSP/Kinsmen on the board - ICB
