And the Longhorn forums continue wallowing in misery. The best compliment they can give is that they were outcoached. Yes they were, but they still don't show any real respect for the talent they faced last night. It takes talent to pull off those defensive numbers, even with good coaching. We didn't have the size they did, but trying to treat us like a DII team to make oneself feel better is funny. I suppose that shouldn't be surprising. It amazes me that the reality of what they were facing was slapping them in the face and they still can't recognize it. So many still think this should have been a 20+ blowout for them because they are so big and so hot. A quick glance at two games should have told them that was a fantasy full of nothing but blinders. Yes, we very well could have lost the game last night, but most of us knew there was not going to be any blowout.

If defense like ACU's was not extremely talent laden and difficult, everyone would do it. ACU has talent. Opponents should admit it openly. Teams have good and bad games but it still takes two teams to play a game and when one dictates the style of the game, that takes talent and coaching.

The look on UT players was classic. I don’t think they would have been more shocked if y’all would have walked out and slapped them in the face with a sex toy. I posted on our thread that ACU was like a swarm of nats just irritating the crap out of UT. I stayed up another 2 hours after the game just a smiling.

I could not sleep either. Must have read hundreds of random posts about the game. Only a few recognized the talent it takes to play the way ACU played. There were lots of UT excuses and blaming of the refs, but most of all that they were out coached. More than one thought UT should get ACU's coach. Shaka seems toast but apparently has a high buy out in his contract and may last another year. The pressure to go ahead and fire him is intense. UT seems to feel losing to ACU was unforgiveable, and most are too young to remember Texas used to lose to our Track and Field teams quite often.
The media was much more balanced with one exception, an article on CBS which dismissed the talent of ACU. Others recognized ACU dictated the way the game way played. Overall, a great night to be a Wildcat even if sleep was difficult.

It says something when a lot of time in our games is spent wiping sweat and blood off the court. I remember the TV cameras zooming in several times on a UT player with a bloody lip. Yet our guys would help up opposing players who had just been clobbered.

One of the comments I heard was the Texas had an off night... most of the time a team has an "off night" is because of the team they are playing. As rc said, "it takes two teams to play a game, and when one dictates he style of the game, that takes talent and coaching."
Folks, this really shouldn't have come down to the last minute. If we had made four or five of those open shots that bounced in and out, we would have been up by more than two points when Texas hit the three from the side with 13.8 second left.
As we all know, this Wildcat team has some talent. Let's see what we can do with the Bruins... just glad it's not Wooden on the sidelines!

It just proved that ACU #1 in the nation in forced TurnOvers is no fluke. Texas got that last night. Remind the naysayers on the UT board about that. I bet they didn't sleep either. 🤣

This SFA alum/fan and avid sports fanatic would like to congratulate yall on a hard fought & well deserved victory! Enjoy the ride...there's nothing like it in the sports world. SFA fans are so glad ACU won the tournament instead of Nicholls. We are very excited about the possibilities in the WAC. People who are coming up with excuses for Texas' loss clearly do no not watch mid major ball. ACU can definitely beat UCLA. My house cheered y'all on against Texas but we might be Bruins fans for one day...just for personal reasons lol Gotta go get ready for the Ladyjacks...hope for another upset this afternoon!

I would argue we had an off-night shooting, but part of that was UT's athleticism. We rarely had the open looks we're accustomed to. On the other hand, UT probably has not faced the unrelenting, 40 minutes of h3ll defense we rolled out. We took the game to them, never backed down, and got an ugly, but effective W. This is the NCAA tournament where "survive and advance" is the name of the game. Let's go do it again. One other thing, many on here have commented all season about how composed this team is. That was huge last night. This team is as cool as the other side of the pillow.

The Texas Tech board was celebrating ACU's win but had one scary post:
If ACU wins, I got $50 saying their head coach will be the head coach at UT next year
