One thing to watch, don't think this will happen, but it could- Joe heads to Austin with Beard to become the assistant head coach. Sounds farfetched, but there were rumors about this last year when rumors were going around that Smart get be fired. I guess you that loop was closed with Chris Ogden leaving the UTA HC gig to be CB’s assistant. Meanwhile, he’s d earlier this evening ORU had extended Paul Mills contract, presumably removing him from the rumor mill. Likewise, listening to Kirby Hocutt’s comments in reaction to CB’s departure, I don’t know if Joe’s a big enough name. But, then, that makes just be wishful thinking. Back to Paul Mills, does anyone have any idea whether ACU would make similar announcement, presuming Joe agrees to stay?

Porter Moser at Loyola Chicago has a 6-year offer from the University of Oklahoma. Grant McCasland is also in the mix

Also, Coach Beard asked his lead assistant coach, Mark Adams to come to UT with him. He declined, and many believe he is the favorite to be the next head coach in Lubbock

Trying to look at all sides of this, I don’t think Joe has coached at a high enough level yet to be considered for a Big 12 HC job. If he had a 10 year history of success at ACU or success as an assistant at a high profile program then yes. I think his next move, if and when it comes will either be as an assistant or as a lower G5 head coach. UNT could b a real possibility. IMHO, if he leaves, we hire Brett Tanner right now. No search. He’s going to be a great head coach somewhere.

If Joe were to leave and we got Brette to stay then I would feel much better about everything.

Speculation on a Tech message board now is that if Adams stays in Lubbock then Beard may make a run at Joe to come as an assistant. I hope Joe can see now how there are some serious character flaws with Beard, but I know they have a long friendship and past. Yes before anyone ask, I'm a bit jaded! 😜

Surely with a grad from ACU and UT at the helm of the Longhorns, we’ll see those 2 teams playing each other in the future.

Moser goes to Oklahoma.
Now all eyes are on Texas Tech. Names I have read are: Adams (Associate HC at Texas Tech), Darvin Ham (NBA Assistant Coach and former Texas Tech Player), Grant McCasland and Golding
