Some random guy on Twitter suggested The potential break up of the Big 12 provides the private schools the opportunity to join with other private universities within a reasonable distance to form a new conference-/ Baylor, TCU, SMU, Rice, Tulane, Tulsa, Dayton and St Louis U were suggested with BYU as a football only member. His interest was in building a strong basketball conference with football as a secondary consideration. ACU’s BB program would fit nicely into such a conference. Not on par with Baylor but competitive with the other schools.

I don't ever see the larger FBS programs doing that. Even within their level and size and don't see the revenue they would want. Why would they add us to that issue?

Because some random guy on the internet thought it would be a good idea, of course. Seriously, it’s not happening but it’s the sort of conference of academic peers that RC would like to see happen…me,too, for that matter.

Agree, it would be nice to be aligned with like minded institutions.
