McNeese beat Tarleton last year. I forgot that Tarleton blew that 31-17 lead with 4:00 to play...an epic collapse. They had even intercepted a pass, but had it called back for roughing the passer. TD, onside kick, TD that got them to overtime.

After 3 games, it is looking like Sam Houston State, Jacksonville State, Stephen F Austin and Central Arkansas will be very difficult to beat. Eastern Kentucky, Lamar and Tarleton State are winnable games in my opinion though none will be easy.

Eastern Kentucky, Lamar and Tarleton State are winnable games in my opinion though none will be easy. My take on the conference thus far…. Sam has been dominant. SFA is getting there. Jax State was blown out by an average FBS team and struggled against a D2 transition squad with a big win against FSU in between. I can’t quite figure them out. UCA hasn’t lived up to its preseason hype thus far. EKU barely beat a perineal conference bottom feeder and Tarleton hasn’t followed up their big spring W over New Mexico State with solid play this fall. I’m not sure how good a team Lamar is overall, but much respect for pulling out an overtime W on the road against a Big Sky opponent. Bottom line—we have the potential to win the 4 games you mention and maybe more if we play well and our opponent underestimates us. We could also lose the rest of our games if we don’t fix our recurrent problems with penalties and play calling.. I know it was just a D2 team but I liked the more aggressive version of our defense I saw Saturday, so I’m encouraged and hopeful….

After the big Lamar victory, I think ACU beats Lamar and Tarleton State to guarantee at least a 5-6 record. Hopefully they can win another game or two. I would be thrilled with a winning record.

Agree. The Cats should be favored over Lamar and Tarleton, and I’d say ACU has a legit shot at picking up a 6th win along the way. Eastern Kentucky, Central Arkansas and Jacksonville State have all shown moments of vulnerability. SFA has looked good but is largely untested. It’s would be a stretch to say we might beat Sam Houston but ‘on any given Saturday.”

I still think we get another victory this week and end the season 5-6. I guess this is better than many expected coming into the year.

We have two games left. Team’s still trying to win both. I predict 6-5. #NeverConcede

I was hoping for a 6-5 season, but 5-6 is a big difference from 1 win last year. I surely did not expect a winning season.

Over-all, 5-6 (2-2) is better than I predicted. Like usual, we showed some promise in areas, but just rarely put a complete game together against peer competition. We were a fairly young team, so hoping we can grow. It will be interesting to see what happens in the off season. Can we take advantage of the transfer portal, because we really need better talent. I like the work ethic of a lot of our players, but physics still rules at the end of the day.

As I suspected, UCA was seasons’s key game. Meanwhile, same Meanwhile, the same team that scored 35 unanswered points in its 42-21 victory in early October, lost yesterday to Tarleton, 24-3, a team ACU beat last week, 29-3. Go figure!

Easy to figure, actually. No Breylin Smith, no Winningham, 1 pass caught by Hudson. UCA basically brought the JV team.
