Uh,,, well... What about Texas? Are we in the playoff hunt? It's confusing. When the boards say we are "hunting" is that for a coach, players, a playoff spot, or a ping pong team? Maybe they are hunting for a spot in the Southland Conference.

Oregon is losing 28-0 at half to Utah. Assuming Oregon loses, and Georgia, Alabama, Ohio St-Michigan winner, Cincinatti win out. They are the playoff teams. If Alabama losses Notre Dame is in the picture. Alabama has a shot with a close loss to Georgia, since there will not be many quality one loss teams left.

Would a conference champ one-loss team from the Big 12 (OU or OSU) get back in the picture? Yes, eight possible playoff teams in my opinion are Georgia, Alabama, Ohio St, Michigan, Cincinatti, Notre Dame, Oklahoma St and Oklahoma. Georgia is in even with a loss. Michigan, Notre Dame, Cincinatti, Oklahoma, Oklahoma St are out with a loss. Alabama and Ohio St could possibly get in with another loss depending on what else happens although that is not a sure thing Of these teams, three are guaranteed another loss. So we are left with 2 undefeated and three one loss teams or one undefeated and five one loss teams at most. This assumes Notre Dame and Cincinatti are not upset in their final games, Oklahoma and Oklahoma St, do not split games with each other, Alabama does not lose to Auburn and the Michigan-Michigan St winner does not lose the Big 10 Championship game.

Cincinnati beat ND h2h, so if Cincinnati should be in undefeated, and they would both be out with a Cincinnati loss, IMO. So unless Baylor wins the Big 12, the Bedlam winner would get a spot. Michigan could get in with a close loss against the Buckeyes. A scenario that would upset the most people is if Bama loses close to UGA and gets in with 2 losses.

If season ended yesterday, my picks are:
1. Jaw-juh (pronunciation courtesy Blackie Sherrod); 2. The Ohio State 3. Bama 4. Cincinnati
Fortunately, Michigan still has a chance to get in, and, more fortunately, boot the Buckeyes, next Saturday. Likewise, if they make the SEC championship game, a two loss Bama team is better than any Little XII or PAC-12 champ. Lastly, having beaten a Big 10 (Indiana) and Notre Dame on the road, which is exactly what the vaunted experts say a Group if 5 team must do to offset their “weak” schedule, an undefeated Cincy is second easiest decision to make (after UGA and two-loss Bama), IMHO.

The problem with the Bedlam winner is that that team turns around and plays in the big 12 championship game .. probably a rematch if OU wins. If OSU wins, the game is against Baylor. Neither of those scenarios suggest a high probability of a 1 loss team coming out of the Big 12. Despite bleeding Crimson and Cream, I will be okay with OSU v Baylor.

Despite not “bleeding Crimson and Cream”, I, too, am all right with OSU v Baylor!

Unfortunately, Cincinatti has to win next week or they are out, even with a single loss due to their weaker schedule. At least now they are pretty much assured to be in the playoffs if they go undefeated.

I still think the top 7 teams and Oklahoma have a shot to make the playoffs. Ohio St and Alabama have slight chance to make the playoffs even with two losses.

NCAA football is crazy. Less than a month ago Michigan St beat Michigan 37-33. Last week Ohio St smothered Michigan St 56-7. This week Michigan comes back and wins over Ohio St 42-27. Michigan is in the driver's seat for a playuff spot, but they play Wisconsin or Iowa next week.
