A very strange game but I'll take any win we can get. Too bad Sam Houston won't make as many mistakes as Tarleton did. It was nice to see some flashes of a good run game.

Was there a decent crowd?

Was there a decent crowd? The crowd was very sparse at first, as usual, but eventually filled in fairly nicely as the 1st qtr went on. It was a sloppy game, but will take the win. I agree that special teams play and red zone defense made key differences in this game. We finally get turnovers at the right time that put this game away for us. Tarleton struggled after their first drive, but our defense also let them get away with a lot at times. Still, this was an important win for our program at home as we renew the rivalry. Maybe it will give us some needed energy as we go into the SHSU game. The direct snaps to Johnson were hard to watch, because they would read it and know what to do. Still it worked at other times. I saw us strive to move the ball better and mix it up even though I am tired of the sweep. We did a few nice turn around routes that helped move the ball. I was frustrated to see Clark drop two passes that he shouldn't have, but glad to se him make up for it with the TD. Over-all the guys worked hard today and didn't give up.

It appeared on TV that the visitors/ student side had more people than usual. This would be one of the advantages of having a conference rival within 300 miles of our campus. Maybe this game will erase the pain of the Angelo debacle!

Winning a National Championship wouldn’t erase that loss. We’ll be talking about that as long as we’ll talk about 53-52.

UT Austin may be in for an equally disappointing game. They are down 14 to nothing after the first quarter, in Austin, to the Kansas Jayhawks. I think the last time UT lost to Kansas was right after the Mayflower.
(Never mind, UT has tied it up...)

I'm enjoying the Kansas game.
Also, how about the Tech game? game-winning 62 yard field goal?! Garibay had at least another 5 yards with that kick as well.
