21-6 offensive rebounds.
The poor free throw shooting is disappointing. No excuses on size there.

Free throws are really disappointing. Just think if we hit our free throws. The whole game would feel differently.

Ok, so we held a Power 5 team on the road to 38% from the field. We miss 11 FTs and lose by 14 (70-56). That's a great effort.
Sure looks like Allen and Smith can bring some athleticism off the bench. That will be a big plus.

Over-all. not a bad start for us. We have room to improve, but our defense doesn't show a real drop. Let's work on our shooting and make this a great year. TAM will be really tough. Can we hold them to similar numbers? Hmmmmmm

This game has made me feel like we won't miss a beat this year. We need to improve the same things we've said for a few years, but our defense is big boy defense and will play anywhere.

Was Richardson in street clothes? I would like to have seen him under the bucket some. Both Smith and De Dieu show some spark. I think as they get more time on the court we will see good things from them. Gai got pushed around a little while he was in. We are really short with Steele and Simmons in together. Hoping Tanner gets a chance to play different combos (the new guys get more minutes when they learn the defense better) before long. Having 6'6" Smith and 6'8" de Dieu on the court would really help.

Tarleton gave Stanford a scare, even leading at half time. Fortunately they do not look to be as tall as Utah was. The WAC will be strong apparently.

I believe Tarleton plays KU on Friday. That will be an eye opener. Wichita St played a future opponent (Jacksonville St) last night and won on a last second almost half court shot 60-57. Joe Pleasant started and played the 3rd most minutes of any Shocker but scored just 6 points. Clay Gayman started for Drury (wiped out by Drake) and did not score in only 8 minutes of court action. His bro. Dalton played 14 minutes off the bench.

FYI, Clay fell in the first game and hit his head and did not go back in. That’s why he played 8 minutes. The next 2 games, however, he played and scored 14/15 points.
