I think athleticism and depth is a more appropriate than talent. Clearly we don’t have depth YET and we don’t have multiple guys throwing and catching easy alley oops and getting to the rim off the dribble whenever they please. We do have talent and we do have drive and desire and work ethic and tenacity. We can hold our own most places we play IF we get shots to fall like we did in the second half. I worry that’s our downfall without a solid post presence. Really cool to see Cam Steele ready to play to start the year as he will only improve as he gains confidence. I think we agree that the school that has the highest athletic budget in the nation should have more depth and talent than “Little Old Abilene Christian,” but the talent discrepancy was not the reason A&M won last night. Just need a few more inches to grab one more rebound.

Both of my major concerns, personel wise, that I was worried about from the Utah game were answered vs A&M. Cameron Steele can play inside. I wish he were a couple of inches taller but he guards hard, moves well and played tougher under the basket. He shoots with confidence from outside. He needs to develop his in the paint game (and I'm confident he will). Coryon Mason showed no signs of a sore shoulder and played a great game. Airion Simmons is a beast at 6'5", a great defender and rebounder and I'm also confident his shooting will come around. Gai and de Dieu looked lost this game. Not sure why Smith didn't play and I hope Richardson will be back soon to see what he can do. We need some length and strength on the floor when the starters need a blow. So very proud of this team.

Quote from an Aggie buddy: “You guys have a really great team!” I wish we had been 2 free throws better.
