With 25-30 scholarships available, what does this staff (that is coming together) need to look for
QB
Mansell and Anderson return; Probably need at least 2. One might already be in the fold, and it's not the QB that just received an offer
RB
If White, Dobbins, Smith and Walton return, I think we are set. Need Dobbins to be the back of 2020
WR
I won't name them all. Spadone, Neece, Dav. Johnson, Holman, Brooks-Wess and Tael. Williams. Need a lot here. Probably 3-4 guys with at least 2 being transfers. Need big guys that are 6'2+ but can also get open down the field
TE
Returning are Caldwell, Miles, Stripling and Cooper. Loss of Lutz is big, but the cupboard is not bear. Would love for this staff to use the TE more, right Bogey!
OL
Again, won't name them all- Moore, Knox, Thielen, Melrose, Tate, Howerton, Girty and Chester. Not bad. Likely need to add 4-5 players with a couple impact transfers
DE
Huge needs here! Paup, Bradley, Kadr. Johnson and Hart return. Have to find a pass rusher. Look for 3-4 guys added, that are bigger, but can get to the QB
DT
Returning are Titre, Morgan, Eades and Pedack. That is a pretty solid group. Need a couple guys that are 315+
LB
Returning are Hargrove, Nwankwo, Adams, Brannon and Coheley. Coheley looked really good at times. Need 2-3 guys here. Again, need to get bigger
CB
Losses of Stapp and Satterfield hurt. Still have Rol. Williams, Tr. Anderson, Egbo and M. Garrett. Add 2-3 here with at least 1 being a transfer
S
Moffett, S. Washington, Stokes and Dillingham. Big need here. Look for at least 4 players with a couple being transfers
We have to start recruiting a higher level athlete and I realize that is a challenge for us. We must be able to identify those young men who would be a good fit at ACU and are also on the border of FBS and FCS. When you look at the other top WAC schools, you'll see they are getting athletes that are ranked (Rivals, 247) higher than most of ours. This is glaring when we play a team like SMU and their athleticism is immediately evident. How we do that is going to be the challenge, but one I think the right coaching staff can overcome.
