A WR room full of FBS transfers with little to no receiving stats at their previous school. Let’s hope for lots of hidden potential being released.

A WR room full of FBS transfers with little to no receiving stats at their previous school. Let’s hope for lots of hidden potential being released. There aren’t too many starters from UT or OU looking to transfer to ACU. So we wind up with 3 star back ups who are playing behind 4 or 5 star guys who want to show what they can do when given a chance.

Well I’d argue that a player with no JUCO stats who went to New Mexico, a WR from Kansas, a WR from UNLV, and a walk on from Arkansas are probably not playing behind a bunch of 4-5 star players but yes your point is valid. Again, they ended up at FBS schools for a reason, let’s see if that reason allows them to excel here. I suppose it all depends on if we can get them the ball too.

Let's just compare last year's roster and this year's prospective roster. Then tell me, what you would rather have. I'll only do the top WR's-
2021- K. Clark, 5'11, 180 Dav. Johnson, 5'8, 163 Neece, 6'3, 206 Holman, 5'10, 179 Dar. Lewis, 5'8, 152 Spadone, 6'2, 216 Brooks-Wess, 5'10, 164 Tael. Williams, 6'2, 169
2022- K. Clark, 5'11, 180 Dav. Johnson 5'8, 163 Neece, 6'3, 206 Holman, 5'10, 179 Spadone, 6'2, 216 Scruggs, 6'2, 205 Catalon, 5'9, 185 Ballard, 6'3, 200 Golightly, 6'4, 212 Blay. Taylor, 6'4, 205 Tael. Williams, 6'2, 169
I take 2022 all day! I get it; a lot of them are unproven. I would say the say about that 2021 group too. But on paper, we are bigger, deeper and better, imo

Totally agree, but let’s see them produce first.

Moore or Fletcher or different? Love to start seeing names. Fletcher to Sam Houston. I saw this on Twitter when I searched his name this morning and retweeted Sports of Sam Houston on Twitter (with images).

Mavsman was pretty sure it was Moore who committed, so not surprised to see Fletcher commit elsewhere.

Totally agree, but let’s see them produce first. Between new players everywhere, some of whom are ‘super secret commits, a totally new coaching staff, closed practices, press conferences that are long on generalities and short on specifics, I, too,am anxious to see Wide receivers and others produce. I’m hopeful based on resumes, but it will be nice to see what this team and these coaches can do against FCS opponents.

It’s weird to me that some posters are weary of FBS talents who had stars out of high school who didn’t produce are dropping down to us. Do you expect FBS talent who were productive to come to us? That just doesn’t make sense.

I will no longer comment on transfer players and will just assume all are great and all conference caliber talents.

Wildcatter, none of us expect that everyone of these transfers will hit. At the WR group, we look better than we did last year. In other areas, we aren't there; YET. One thing that puzzles me on this board is the pessimistic attitude on every turn. Can we please give KP and his staff a chance? Now more than ever, these players, these coaches, need our support. To Houstoncats post, we aren't to the point where we will get big time FBS transfers that have played in critical roles. If we start winning, that will happen.

I just think it’s strange that we find reasons to question every signing. It’s like the Debby downer SNL sketch.
