Guys that are in; not necessarily on campus but enrolled QB Long WR Catalon WR Bl. Taylor WR Scruggs TE Castles S Marshall As additional players commit will they be able to enroll at the beginning of the next summer term after they have been admitted or will they have to wait until fall? I’m curious since we have so many short summer terms spread over several months.

Mansell tweeted about a transfer named Kylan Herrera a WR with 4.2 speed. Do we know if ACU has any interest in him?

Still expecting at least 1 more FBS OL, an FBS QB, a JUCO LB, an FBS CB. Also, pretty confident we have another OL that is a walk-on commit
Biggest need now is a couple big DTs

New staff seem to be bringing in some players! I'm excited about the possibilities.

There should be some 1st class competition for starting spots up and down our roster. With the addition of these transfer OL we should be able to RS our freshmen. Seems to me we are loaded (numbers) at almost every position at least 2-deep except for DT. Who knows how this group will come together as units but on paper we look to be stronger and deeper. Looking forward to more additions and announcements.

An anecdote about the quality of players our coaches are getting- ACU will now have 3 -3Star QB’s with 247 cumulative recruiting scores higher than Stetson Bennet’s, who just led the GA Bulldogs to a national title.
Ethan Young .8771 Maverick McIvor .8642 Peyton Mansell .8580
Stetson Bennett .8304
We are also blessed with an OC/QB coach with a proven track record of developing talent.

He is one that I've been following pretty closely the past few weeks. He played his high school ball at San Angelo Central. He has not announced his commitment officially, but this means he has made it known to 247sports that he will be a Wildcat. His Instagram says ACU Football

Looks like a crowded QB room.

I do find the shift in recruiting strategy interesting. When we first went D1 under Collums, I remember our recruiting board liked to list the star rating of the recruits and how many 3 star recruits we were able to get. This was a major shift from ACU as a D2 school where we rarely got anybody that was rated by the agencies. I have to admit, this strategy did not work under Columns as we had incredible turnover from our highest rated recruits. I got the feeling to get some of the higher rated recruits as a new D1 school still playing at Shotwell, we had to take guys with warning signs that other schools did not want.
Fast forward to the AD days and it seemed like he wanted "his" guys that fit a certain model and GPA. It seemed like we hardly ever got any rated players. It seems like often times we got players as their only D1 offer. Like AD was able to go back to his d2 roots and felt like he was able to pick the cream de la cream from the d2 rated players. I must admit the team GPA did increase, but we were perpetually behind the 8 ball in pure athleticism. Just always seemed like we were an inch shorter, 10 lbs lighter and 0.1 sec in the 40 slower than the corresponding players of our competition. This also certainly did not lead to any sustained success in the D1 level (Or I guess even temporary success a we never won a conference or made a playoff at large bid).
Now it seems like we are moving back towards Collums model of trying to fill the roster with rated players and transfers. After the AD years, I welcome this change as I am a bit sick of hearing how it is all about scheme and character to win games and then watching the more athletic teams steam roll us again and again. Somehow keeping a GPA card under a kids helmet did not help them keep up with the 6'2" wide out on the Go route. I just hope the new regime is able to strike the balance between highly rated recruits and guys with enough character/academic ability to stay in school.

KP has the advantage of working for a large D1 school previously. He knows what D1 players look like. That is something AD and KC did not have. No knock against them but I think KP's prior stops gives him some definite advantages.

From what I was told by several players, who definitely knew what they were talking about, AD had two "rules"/methods" that many players thought were, totally destructive, to the point of being, for lack of a better term, foolish/stupid. I heard this straight from the mouths of many horses. I never responded to any of them but one that I know pretty well and who was directly affected by them. I'm no football coach but will say that I totally agreed with them. Just for what it's worth. Have no interest in knocking AD but the facts are the facts. Wish him the best at his new school.
