First one Skyler Cassity is the DC and will coach Safeties I like that his father was recognized as a very strong recruiter. Hopefully Skyler can follow in his footsteps. We need strong recruiters.

Are we expecting more announcements today, or will they be spaced out throughout the week?

Looks like we will be in a similar situation with Patterson and Cassidy like we were with Dorrel and Lamberson where Lamberson was OC just in title. Not sure in the college game how typical it is for the head coach to still want to call shots depending on background of offense or defense but I don’t think it worked well for us under this last regime.

Skyler Cassity is an interesting pick as DC. You are right, Wildcats0075, the guy looks young -- younger than his 26 years. Of course, just about everyone under 40 looks like grade school kids to me these days.
I have thinking about who ACU could get as assistant coaches and I realize that our entire assistant pool will probably be a bit more than Chris Thomsen makes as the TE coach at Florida State ($500,000). I suspect the pool will be around $600,000 (could it be a little bit more if some donors step up to sweeten the pot a bit?). So that does not allow bringing in a established coordinator that would eat up 40-50% of the pool. So, ACU will have to catch someone who is climbing the ladder OR an alum who might come to ACU for below the going rate.
With that in mind, I look at the Skyler Cassity hire in comparison to Zach Kittley. Kittley did not play college ball, besides the 1 semester he spent at ACU walking onto the basketball team. Kittley immediately moved to a student assistant role at Texas Tech after his transfer to TTU, mainly based on the influence that his Dad has with Tech coaches. Zach was first a student assistant for 3 years, then a grad assistant for 3 years -- all the time understudying Kliff Kingsbury. In 2017, Zach's title was Offesnsive Grad Assistant/QB's assistant coach -- still a GA and not even a coach who could recruit off campus at that point. Who was the Defensive Grad Asst on that same Tech team? Skyler Cassity.
In the spring of 2018, HBU hired the young Zach Kittley, who had never even been a full-time coach, to be their OC at the tender age of 26. The rest is history. Zach turns around the HBU offense and takes lightly-recruited QB named Bailey Zappe and turns him into a superstar. Zach spends 3 years at HBU and then works his magic at Western Kentucky for one and voila, he returns to Texas Tech with a contract of $2.2 million over 3 years ($733K a year) from the same school that was paying him around $30,000 a year just 4 years prior.
Can Skyler Cassity work the same magic with the ACU defense as Zach worked with the HBU/WKU offense? I don't know, but their stories are very similar. And, if Skyler is poached from ACU in 4-5 years for a much larger contract of over $500k, ACU will be the better for it.

Well, I had hoped by 2 pm there would be an official announcement; if not 2 then certainly by 3. Disappointed!! I share your disappointment. I expected we would have a full coaching staff no later than today, but it seems we will remain waiting to know much at all about what our team will look like moving forward. If we do not have a full coaching staff by Friday my frustrations will turn to concern, as time is quickly ticking away from us. I will lean on the other posters on this sight with cooler heads to calm my growing frustrations and concern, but may be joining those who have voiced significant concern about this transition thus far.

If you think for 1 second that there aren't other coaches already here and working for ACU Football, you are sadly mistaken. I know of at least 4, that have yet to be named, that are already working the phones for players. I knew Cassity was on staff 3 weeks ago.
Let me remind you what this place is- ITS A FAN FORUM! Not a jump on the bandwagon forum; not I'll be a fan when the folks in athletics meet my needs forum; not a critical forum! Do we have to agree with everything that happens! Nope! But some of you need to give it a rest or go root for some other team on some other forum.
I'll say this again, I often work for athletics; announcing, stat keeping, etc. I have received 2 comments from folks in athletics the past 3 days about comments on this board. They read them and they don't appreciate what is being said. We MUST understand, they work for ACU, not for us. They want the news about the staff hires to be announced too, but they have to honor their bosses. So, how about we honor them, quit all the stupid, petty comments that are all about us. The info will get out.
