During my time at ACU, there were plenty of things I didn't agree with. Sometimes, when necessary, I had conversations with my boss or the higher ups. But at the end of the day, I am a fan of this university! Me, someone who after 7 years of working there, was a budget cut. Could I have been angry, posted a lot of things, said I'm never coming back? Yep! Sometimes, in life, it is easier to be negative. I call the Eor mindset. Why bother, its all bad anyway
When I did lunch with Zack Lassiter, I shared some of my frustrations about attendance, etc. I have been a harsh critic of game attendance, but rather than sitting behind a computer screen, I went to the person who can do something about it. If any of you have a true beef with what is happening, all of the information of the athletics staff is on the staff directory. Call or email.
You want to be a fan, then cheer for the team when they doing something great! KP's defense allowed 7 points in a bowl game to Mike Leach. Leach is one of the masters of the air raid offense. I didn't see that coming. So rather than cheer what he did, the comments are about a meaningless bowl game and he should be putting a staff together, which he was doing.
It just seems like out of your 225 posts, 90% are snarky and sarcastic

Kitten and Mavsman. Pistols at dawn. C’mon guys. Enough is enough. WildKitten, tone it down. It’s a new era for ACU football and athletics in general. Let’s go easy on them until they actually do something wrong and applaud them when they do something right. Mavsman, take the chip off your shoulder. I know that much of the sarcasm seems to be directed toward your friends but It’s best not to engage in this type of dialogue.

If you think for 1 second that there aren't other coaches already here and working for ACU Football, you are sadly mistaken. I know of at least 4, that have yet to be named, that are already working the phones for players. I knew Cassity was on staff 3 weeks ago. Let me remind you what this place is- ITS A FAN FORUM! Not a jump on the bandwagon forum; not I'll be a fan when the folks in athletics meet my needs forum; not a critical forum! Do we have to agree with everything that happens! Nope! But some of you need to give it a rest or go root for some other team on some other forum. I'll say this again, I often work for athletics; announcing, stat keeping, etc. I have received 2 comments from folks in athletics the past 3 days about comments on this board. They read them and they don't appreciate what is being said. We MUST understand, they work for ACU, not for us. They want the news about the staff hires to be announced too, but they have to honor their bosses. So, how about we honor them, quit all the stupid, petty comments that are all about us. The info will get out. We all want to see more ACU coach hires and players like the young man from CU saying he is coming in for a visit. I guess it’s a chicken or the egg thing what comes first coaches or players or players or coaches. Every team in our conference has commitments. Most current teams in our conference have slight coaching changes. You know even IWU Cardinals has commitments. www.texasfootball.com/team/abilene-christian-wildcats/commitments/2022

Maybe I am missing something- I think the player from Minnesota was coming in for a visit, not Lloyd from Colorado. Did I miss something?

Yeah, that's a great source.

The whole TT team played a inspired football game. Based on KP’s past defensive stats I posted…I for one did not expect that outcome. Thank goodness I am not a Vegas gambler or I would’ve lost some money. With that being said about stats…I’m hoping KP can garner the same type of liberty Bowl passion from the ACU FOOTBALL team and have a better run than AD.

I would like to apologize to everyone on this board. I let my frustrations boil over due to some comments on this board. So to Oscar, Cattitude, Wildkitten and the rest of the members and guests that visit this board, I sincerely apologize. When I first got on this forum, my goal was to provide information to the ACU fan community. I will get back to doing that.

I like this hire. It says he is strength and conditioning for football. Does that mean there is another S&C coach for other sports? I knew when I was there the strength coach really ran Powell for all sports and was not all that involved in season for football.

Wildcat0075, yes, there are different strength coaches. Currently, Luke Lancaster is listed as the Director of Strength and Conditioning with Brandon Decker and Reid Miller serving as assistants. What I have seen in the past is Decker mainly handled football and basketball. I'm assuming this change could mean one of this is gone

First of all -- Mavsman, you are the most prolific purveyor of real, live info on this board - not opinion. I do not believe you need to apologize and I hope that you never get so frustrated with CatChat that you leave this board - we will be far the poorer for it.
I like to think that I mostly post positive info and opinion on this board myself. I think most of my frustration on the board in more recent years has been related to what I perceived as a constant narrowing of the info flow, particularly from football. When I tried to find out the problem, I discovered that there was a narrowing of communication going to "the proper channels" -- and that obviously led to less info getting to the public. I suspect that KP will provide a great deal more info to the new SID than we have experienced in the past few year - KP has seen how it is done on the next level, where transparency is expected.
The more I look at the hiring of KP, the more I like what I see. I am on the largest Texas Tech message board quite a bit, since I post on that board about Red Raider T&F. I read over and over on that board how even those people who were not enamored with KP's coaching, had a a great deal of respect for him as a person. I think he acquitted himself very, very well in the Liberty Bowl totally stymying a Mike Leach offense. In fact, I admire how the entire Texas Tech staff, many of them lame ducks, had their team thoroughly prepared for that game. KP has the experience of coaching at the next level and he also has a first-hand look at the information flow that should occur from his sport.
Would I like to know who is being added to the coaching staff? Of course I would. I am glad to hear that several people have been on staff for the past 1-3 weeks, they have simply chosen to wait to announce the additions. With ACU starting classes in 6 days, the most pressing matter is to find some mid-term transfers from Juco or from the transfer portal who can be in Abilene in 1 week. Then, the coaches can jump head-first into recruiting athletes for this coming fall -- the signing window for HS athletes and fall transfers re-opens on February 2.
One last item, I appreciate all the points that Footballmama made in her post two days ago on this thread. I do not disagree with anything that she said. However, I do believe there is some respect that is due the true fan. I have been attending ACC/ACU athletic events for 65 years -- I attended my first ACC track meet when I was 11 months old. I have attended multiple numbers of events for every single sport at ACU. I have attended ACC/ACU football games under 13 head coaches -- KP will be the 14th head coach when I go to the opening game of 2022. I have known and supported each of them -- and, I knew the three head coaches that held the position before I was born. I do NOT consider myself a "bandwagon" fan. I have expended a huge amount of emotion and focus on ACU athletics and even a fair amount of my financial support over those years. I desperately want every coach at ACU to succeed beyond my wildest dreams, even if it means that we might lose them eventually to a school further up the totem pole. I know that my beloved alma mater will benefit whenever that coach is successful.
