Dissapointing loss, but we did not shoot well enough to win tonight. SFA came ready to play, and they showed off their 3-point shooting and Kensmil. I agree with others that this game experience will help the Cats.

Despite the loss, we only dropped down 3 spots in Kenpom (125). The Net Rankings will be interesting to see. We came into the game at #59 in the Nation.
On a side note, UVU is #74 in Net rankings now, and our win against them is now considered a Quad 1 win in the Net rankings.

It was a game of poor decisions by us. All year long we have not tried to force the ball but rather used quickness to draw player out then rapid passing to set up open shots. Last night we often just tried to power over the top of them and they were just too tough. How many charges? How many shots just throw up? We can and should learn that our formula prior to last night fits our line up far better. SFA gave us a dose of our defense and you have to hand it to them, they were really moving the ball and gettin shots -- a big unpredictable was their outstanding out side shooting.

You’re right rc. SFA really wants to score at the bucket. The Jacks are in the bottom 20 teams (before last night) in even attempting 3’s, though they are 34th in the nation at converting them. Game plan was to obviously keep Kensmil from dominating the paint and forcing us to live or die by the three. Just happened to be our night with outside shooting, but that’s actually rarely the case.
I won’t be surprised if we see a similar game plan from Tanner the next time we play.

You guys certainly deserved to win. You took the Wildcats completely out of their game plan, better than teams we have played. I was a bit shocked to see our poor shooting but the Jacks were well positioned and pretty much controlled the style of the game. What worries me a bit is more and more teams see teams like SFA and ACU emphasize defense and getting defensive rebounds. Someone said offense may not travel dependably, but defense always does.

What worries me a bit is more and more teams see teams like SFA and ACU emphasize defense and getting defensive rebounds. Someone said offense may not travel dependably, but defense always does. What we have to do is learn how to adjust better when teams do what SFA did. They studied us well and were too effective at taking us out of our game. We need better answers. I agree that SFA deserved the win last night, but we need to learn from this experience if we hope to make it back to the dance again. If we don't, we will have a good year, but we won't be positioned to be in the tourney. I still liked our grit and determination, but it takes better skills on the court to adapt when we are being outplayed. Last night, we combined bad shooting with poor rebounding. The gap from both of those was too big to overcome. I kept waiting for us to set up our shots better, but kept watching us try to take it over them. We had occasional success, but it was never consistent. It left our Points Off Turnovers almost nonexistent. I am sure we will watch this film and grow. I would rather this happen now in the season than later, but it was still difficult to watch.
