Simmons played well and scored 18 points in the game.

Much better offensive performance today. Simmons was money, Reggie hitting three 3s is a big bonus. Glad to see Cameron getting extended minutes with his energy and aggression on the boards.

Simmons makes such a difference when he is on the floor. Plus I love that he always helps the opposing player to their feet anytime they get knocked down. Classy move to me.

The guys really played the most complete game they've played in a while. Making 3's really takes a lot of pressure off our inside game where we are challenged. It helped that we got some "friendly" calls that were missing for the past 2 weeks. We didn't go on any 5 minute scoring droughts that have become all to frequent.

It helped that we got some "friendly" calls that were missing for the past 2 weeks. We didn't go on any 5 minute scoring droughts that have become all to frequent. We did have two in the first half that were 3.5 - 4 minutes but at that point we had built such a nice lead we were able to maintain control. I agree that those have plagued us though. Akin and Stone for them are two strong and athletic power forward players that I sure wish we had. Simmons is strong and a effective but when he gets in foul trouble we just have Steele and then Allen or Cameron playing in the post and out of position too. If we could play Steele next year as more of a stretch 4 who can also use some of his post moves it would make a huge difference.

I agree with the Steele observation. Adding Richardson will help. I don't know what kind of a game Bettiol has but he should help too. If Gai could improve his ability to catch and control we'll be better in the paint but I sure wish we could get a 6'10" or taller post with some weight to clear space under the bucket.

I noted today that Brett made some significant adjustments. He went back to the 10-12 player substitution strategy. As a consequence, our defense was too quick and smothering. Plus, we hit some shots.
In the first half especially, the officiating was very strange. CBU scored 26 of their points on free throws. Yet they seemed reluctant to call the same things at our end of the court.
We played much better. I hope it continues.
