Players we have interest in that have yet to commit
QB Luke Ullrich, Colleyville Heritage HS- offered; think he goes JUCO route
RB Nico Hamilton, Lake Travis HS- offered, visited last weekend- current Air Force commit
WR Kam Robinson, Lancaster HS- offered, former Tulsa commit; not quite sure where he ends up
WR Jackson Baird, Waco Midway HS- pretty sure we offered, he visited this weekend; likely commits to ACU
OL Hashim Jaffa, Katy Morton Ranch HS- offered; likely goes elsewhere
OL Cameron Vann, Abilene Wylie HS- was told we offered a PWO to him; if so, I expect him to commit to ACU
LB Jailyn Gibbs, Wichita Falls Rider HS- offered, visited; likely commits to ACU
CB Kordell Gouldsby, Bixby Okla HS- no offer; think he goes elsewhere
S Dax Noles- Norman, Oklah HS- no offer; current Oklahoma commit; think he stays committed to OU
S Carson Finney- Brock HS- offered, visited; think he commits to ACU

Another name to watch is Abilene Wylie OL Cameron Vann. Van is listed at 6'6, 310. I was told last weekend that he would get a PWO. Would not surprise me if he is a Wildcat

WR Kam Robinson commits to Trinity Valley JUCO. A bit of a shock, not that he didn't choose ACU, but he had a decent amount of D1 offers. With the early signing day and transfer portal, it makes you wonder how many of those offers were still there

RB Nico Hamilton received an offer tonight from Wyoming. Not long after he committed to them

Staff had been working on this one for a couple weeks now. When Nico Hamilton committed to Wyoming, staff moved quickly. RB Deonte Dean from Lake Highlands HS commits to ACU. On the season, he had 2347 rushing yards and 234 receiving yards with 25 touchdowns on the season. He is the all-time leading rusher in Lake Highlands school history and he was the district MVP. He had offers from Sul Ross St, SE Oklahoma, Mary Hardin Baylor, Washburn, and East Central.

Because of the transfer portal, there are a few things we are seeing
1. The Power 4 programs are full or are waiting until the next transfer portal starts up again. They are typically done taking HS kids 2. The portal is really hurting high school players. If you aren't committed early in the year, you are left scrambling 3. Many talented high school players are going the JUCO route. If they don't like their offers, they will go JUCO for a year or 2 4. The Group of 5 conferences (other FBS) still have a bit of room. Wyoming saw a talented back like Hamilton available. So once they offered, he jumped on it. So with the amount of guys off the board, schools like Wyoming will take a guy that might be more of an FCS player and see what they can do with him 5. Same is happening here at ACU. So FCS players move up to FBS, D2 players move up to FCS. It is crazy to me that guys like DE/LB Gibbs and Dean were only getting looks from D2 and D3 teams.

Carthel at SFA prefers high school recruiting to transfers. He signed 24 players in the early period. I think that's pretty smart.

I hope it is true that really talented guys that should be FCS/FBS are only being looked at by D2/D3 schools. I was concerned with so many of the guys we are recruiting only having other offers from D2/D3 schools. Was reminding me too much of the Dorrel days.

I’m trying to remember if Dorrel ever recruited a player with almost 2,600 yards from scrimmage. Some of the RBs he recruited did work out.

Dean is basically the same size as Dobbins. His Hudl film looks good. Lake Highlands certainly played good competition, so he could be a diamond in the rough. With 3 FBS running backs in front of him (Sunday, Vaughn and Johnson) he should be able to be brought along slowly. Do we know if walkon Parker Polk is coming back?

Mavsman, do we know why OL Abraham Sakiri is not getting a lot of notice? He could be a project. With his brother at ACU I thought he was a possibility. Interesting that as of this time we have -0- OL or DL committed except a PWO.
