I posted a thread in the Around the WAC thread for the Sam Houston/Tarleton game I figured a lot of us will be watching the game seeing how we play both of the teams.

Had our chances but we took a ranked team down to the wire. Much improved from past years. And we are young and still gelling as a team. Need to take care of business in the rest of our games. This game shows we can compete. Take away turnovers and penalties and we win.

Definitely the most professional broadcast of the season.

Very proud of our guys! They did a great job! Eliminate a few mistakes and ACU pulls off the upset. They will learn and grow from this. They looked like a good college football team today. This should really help with the rest of the season.

I have been out of pocket -- why did Reese Young not play?

This should really help with the rest of the season. Even with our mistakes and penalties, if we get a couple of key stops in their last drive, we would have had the chance to score again. This will be a good game to build from and the rest of our games have proven winnable.

Yes, we have the physical attributes to win out, the question will be do we execute without killer penalties and defensive miscues. We certainly could have beaten UND but our own mistakes kept that from happening. My hope is these are growing up games and in time (hopefully short time) we hit our stride and eliminate our mistakes. Sometimes I wonder when a player does a bone-headed thing and there does not seem to be any discussion or learning opportunity following. I guess things have changed over the years. I just remember Coach Nutt, keeping his cool but clearly explaining what one should do. The understood message was don't make that mistake again and you didn't (or if you ever did, you sat awhile on the lonely bench, down on the end by yourself.) That pretty much cleared up such matters, and the whole team learned.

So we lose by 3 missing our best defensive player and best offensive lineman. We are close to being a good team.

There was a 2nd and 10 with about 7 minutes left where Coheley was hitting the gap and was hooked by one of their OL. Was clear as day in the middle of the LOS and the biggest gap in the line of play and there was no call. It was a good gain, maybe for a first down, and should have been a stop for no gain. At that point I realized the odds were always stacked against us but we played hard and made a good showing.
We have lost two games to FCS schools by a total of 6 points.
We look like a totally different operation from the previous regime for the better.
Lastly, I wish we Anthony Smith was healthy and I wish we would have run the ball more.

Although I think North Dakota was the better team, with a little luck we could be 6-2 at present. Some of the penalties were highly questionable. We need to beat SFA to win the WAC and if we beat both Tarleton and SFA, we have a good chance to make it to the playoffs. If we sweep the last three games, I think we go to the playoffs.

How the back judge missed that I’ll never know. I think that it was a 3rd down play. We started the season with 4 running backs and now have two. I don’t think they want to burn the big freshman’s redshirt. I think the critical play was the interception that went through Kobe’s hands. If he makes that play, there was a good chance that we go ahead and their game plan changes. Hats off to big ole Hooseman and their OL. They took over the last 7 minutes when we desperately needed a stop.

KP's hair at press conferences always looks like he just rolled out of bed.

I really like Coach Patterson's press conferences. I agree that this was our best game of the season so far.

I did not get to watch of the game and only got to hear the 2nd half, so I have had to put together most of the game from stats. Looking at the participation report, I think it is pretty safe to say that Thielen did NOT start on the defensive line, as he is listed in the report. What I don't know about Reese Young -- he is listed as a starter at LB. On the radio, they mentioned that he was not playing. And, I was reminded by a CatChatter that enjoys reviewing the roster even more than me, that Reese was injured at the Homecoming game and missed most of the 2nd half of that game. Anyone on the board know if Reese played at all?

I got to watch some of the game, and I never saw Reese out there.
