Wasn’t able to watch the first half. Catching up on the thread and the scoring plays. Like I said last week, we have to establish our offense in the run which it appears we have not even attempted to do and our defense must cause turnovers. Not good to be -2 in the turnover battle. Again, Maverick will not be a QB that fixes any of our problems. Does not have that kind of ability. Sad to see another punt. I will now concede that the hope is flickering for us this year. Hope we can finish the year strong and bounce back next year. Maybe get some positive momentum at the end of this game. And learn how to stop the run.

There’s obvious confusion with this 3-3-5. Tempo of SUU and altitude are probably not helping. Yes. We are very banged up. 46 is out with a concussion. 42 playing with a broken hand… O issues make no sense to me… Honestly, altitude is the only thing that makes sense to me. Playing with a broken hand is noteworthy but not really uncommon in college or pro ball. I expect some other dings, but many of the defensive mistakes I have been seeing is more than that. Their tempo is tough, but we have played plenty of teams with tempo. There is something definitely wrong today and being outcoached is again one of them. I hope we keep our heads high and make the right adjustments or this will get even worse. Thank goodness we at least got this back to two scores... Nevermind. Geez.

Need to go back to the D we ran last year. I’ve been critical of the 3-3-5 with 3 high all year. We don’t have the DLine to run it well, as evidenced by the fact a TE who switched to D a few weeks ago is beating out guys recruited for the position. That’s not a shot at Colt either. He obviously has shown the staff he’s capable but that’s not normal. Heck, he was getting significant playing time after 1 week.

I knew SUU would be good but I did not expect them to physically dominate us the way they have. Total control on both sides of the ball.

Checking back in and we are down even more... reminds me of Angelo State a while back. SUU was a 2-5 team. Astonishing we are worse than they are. Had a relative that was on the faculty there and..., well, we will leave it at this point.

52-14 loss. Lots to criticize and a few positives. I hope KP will reevaluate not only the defensive scheme and players (QB and receivers, etc.) but also his staff. Not bringing your "A" game (not showing up) to perhaps the 2 most important conference games is indicative of a total breakdown and not just the players.

Please tell me that we aren't really this bad. Ugly to the point of being embarrassing. Now with nothing to play for I hope that our players don't lose all of their enthusiasm. Does anyone know why Ro'Vaughn Banks didn't play?

I knew SUU was a lot better than their record after a close loss to Austin Peay last week that sounds like they should have won. Was not shocked that we lost to them but did not expect it to be a blowout. The play of the game was the interception when we were driving and down 28-14. Catch the ball and score and it is a game. Instead it turns into a nightmare.

The part of the game I watched was disheartening not because of our players but because of what they were asked to do. Bad schemes, no deception, and very little excitement. That points to systematic problems. Our guys showed little motivation. There were defensive alignments where the supposed 3-3-5 was so unbalanced that huge areas off tackle were open. Other times we had two backers standing right next to each other. On offense, we run plays that seem so robotic that if the SUU had most of its defense jamming an area, we still ran right into that area. I hate being negative and I know it is an undesirable trait, but I want our young men to be more excited about being a Wildcat. Watching today was scary when I think of who might want to come play as a Wildcat. They are probably not as motivated to do so if they watched this game.

Unimaginative play calling, terrible QB play, WRs with no hands, no play makers who want to turn it on, still don't want to tackle. There isn't much to like about our team's play at this point in the season.

I think what is most frustrating is that over the last 6-7 years, there has been little to no change in the product we see on the field. Three coaching staffs but what do we have to show for it? Mediocre offense and mediocre defense with an occasional flash. Half of this team is FBS transfers so the talent is as physically gifted as it’s ever been but yet we will still end up around .500. More money for coaching the past two hires but still around .500. Offense has been as vanilla as could be for the past five years. Never a dominant line so winning the line of scrimmage battle is just an occasional thing. We lose players to injury or suspension but rarely does the public ever find that info out, hard to connect to this team with no info ever shared. Tuning in to games not even knowing who is available or who is on the team anymore. It used to be “let’s keep this info private because we don’t want our opponents knowing” to now just realizing we just don’t have a program that’s relevant to report on.

Without the one long run we had less than 100 yards on BOTH rushing and passing. Not acceptable.

My saddest moment came today when out of the blue the Past Poet Laureate of Utah (and first runner up choice for Poet Laureate of the USA) and retired SUU professor (who happens to be my cousin) wrote me, in his words, a Tacky Letter (email) boasting of their devastating clobbering of ACU. He now is retired in Oregon. I guess the worst part is he went to college at ACU but now prefers to be associated with SUU more than ACU. I will have to hear about this for the rest of my life. We used to fish in Lake Panguitch Utah together and now he is trying to deny association with ACU.
