The progeny of the Wallings (David Halbert) has already done $15 million for the science building - I think that is pretty good.

The pressbox is under construction. I've been watching the progress through the construction cam. The lights are getting ready to go up. I do hope the concrete facade is in the plans.

I had the pleasure of making a trip to Abilene this weekend for my daughter's tennis tournament. While there, I got my first look at the new track stadium and was really impressed. That's going to be awesome. I also got to see some Wildcat baseball at The Crutch for the first time. Again, it was awesome. Had dinner at Texas Roadhouse with some family members who live in Abilene and our waiter was none other than former ACU LB Cy Wilson. He saw us in our Aledo apparel and said, "Hey I'm from Aledo". Very nice kid. But, the best part of the trip was that my daughter's Sunday match was moved from Rose Park Tennis Center to THE ACU INDOOR COURTS (because of wet courts) which is also an awesome facility. Lots of cool stuff happening with Wildcat sports.

Contributions have broken the $20 million barrier was the last I heard. A big announcement would certainly be appreciated. Lance Barrow has been on campus several times recently. Maybe he's helping make a push.

The "big news" appears to be that we have selected a replacement architect for the football stadium---HKS is working on the design. HKS has designed some of the most impressive sports complexes in the country, including ATT Stadium. www.hksinc.com/sectors/sports/

What happened to the original?

Apparently things just weren't working out. I understand that the high ups were not too pleased when the saw the finished product like the press box.

Are you referring to the press box plans for the football stadium or the press box for the track and soccer stadium? I was assuming it was the same company doing both but you know how that goes.

Apparently things just weren't working out. I understand that the high ups were not too pleased when the saw the finished product like the press box. The original plans placed the upper deck behind the lower stands rather than cantilevered over at least a part of the lower stands to be nearer the field. I hope the new architect looks at ways to get fans in the cheap seats closer to the action.

Thanks,Oscar. Out with the old and in with the new. Feel like a new man. Actually, what I meant was, where can I find a REAL neon sign to hang on my wall AT HOME. Someone at ACU needs to get in touch with a sweatshop over in China and crank out a thousand of those bad boys and stick some in the campus store, I'd buy one and I'm sure others would too. It would look pretty cool in the man-cave at night with the lights down low. Funny how things can be misinterpreted. Later on today I'll be posting on the Spring practice thread. Seems as though someone misinterpreted my last post there, e-mailed it to a coach thereby setting up a meeting with Josh questioning his dedication to the football program. Stay tuned Guest, you just might like this one.

Yup, you can buy it for your bad boy man cave. www.neon-beer-signs.com/products.php?cat=164Looking forward to your spring practice update post. I spent over 35 years teaching. On more than one occasion I was misunderstood by students who reported me to their parents who went to my dean or the university president to report my misbehavior Last Friday night I was privileged to speak to a group of graduates from one of ACU's departments. They hold their own ceremony in addition to the university wide ceremony. Among other things, I said, "God forbid that you might have learned to be religious while at ACU." That could be misunderstood pretty easily if quoted without context. I equated becoming religious with an emphasis on rule keeping as the way to please God, vs living a Christ-like life. Straining at gnats and tithing everything, including household spices, while ignoring "weightier (more important) matters." Anyway, I am retired and getting old. I can say what I want now.
