Hopefully we can do much better. I went back and looked at the last 10 years and this year's attendance was right at the 10 year average. This year was Collums best and the best since 2010. If we spent $20-30M on a new on campus stadium and still can't top the attendance that we did as a division 2 team, than I think the move up was a failure. We are spending millions on more scholarships, new stadium, longer travel etc and hopefully we get a fairly substantial return on that investment. An extra 500 butts in seats on 5 saturday's a year is not what I had in mind. 2005 6,957 4-6 Chris Thomsen 2006 9,001 8-3 Chris Thomsen Div. II Playoffs 2007 8,007 0-3 Chris Thomsen Div. II Playoffs; Vacated 10 wins 2008 8,796 11-1 Chris Thomsen Div. II Playoffs 2009 9,062 9-4 Chris Thomsen Div. II Playoffs 2010 8,387 11-1 Chris Thomsen Div. II Playoffs 2011 6,991 8-3 Chris Thomsen Div. II Playoffs 2012 6,615 7-4 Ken Collums 2013 7,089 6-5 Ken Collums 2014 7,801 6-6 Ken Collums Reclassifying to FCS 10 yr average 7,871 5 year average 7,377

Last year Northern AZ drew 10,500 and Lamar drew about 9,000 but Ave Maria only drew 8,100 on homecoming and NWLA, 4800. If NW had just been a normal 6500 or so and homecoming its usual 10k plus, we would be looking pretty good. UCA attendance in Plano was 8300' I think, on a cold and blustery day.

I doubt any of us had in mind stagnant attendance and .500 seasons. Things have been in such flux since Collums took the helm it is difficult to get much of a gauge on program direction, either in terms of fan support or quality of coaching. Patience through a period of sometimes painful transition seems the best course.

Took my morning walk this morning over on campus.
The spot where the new on-campus stadium will go up sure does look forlorn. Nothing going on. No stakes, no equipment. It does not appear we will be starting construction anytime soon.
On a brighter note, scaffolding is up on the front of the track/soccer stands. Looks like the facade will go up soon to give the new facility a finished look?

The stadium WON'T start until the gifts are made or pledged.

If it were an Amish school we'd get everyone together and build that sucker while the women folk make us dinner on the ground. But, nooo, we are a C of C school where we rely on others to do for us.

I don't believe you want me building a football stadium, nor for that matter a crew of Amish farmers. Let's keep things positive here and not disparage the spiritual heritage of a great school and many of its hardworking, sacrificial people. I too would like to see progress but think waiting until the funds are there to complete the project is very wise.

I heard that the contractors for the Allen stadium are available at a discount.

I heard that the contractors for the Allen stadium are available at a discount. Pretty BAD guess . Since that was a major design flaw, Lab test Failure, and Lack of design mix analysis by Structural Engineer.

The stadium WON'T start until the gifts are made or pledged. When do you think the stadium will be completed and have football games played? I am guessing 2016 is now out of the question. Could it be 3-4 more years?

Could it be 3-4 more years? Hopefully somebody with deep enough pockets to matter will see that the stadium will not be completed on the expected timeline and that the school really is going to wait for complete funding. I would love to help but my pockets are no where near that deep....

A lot of players were promised a New Stadium for 2016 kickoff! This hurts the current team and future teams in building a program if we can't stand behind our words and promises to kids we are trying to teach these things. Already lots of rumblings from players! Especially when some of the kids come from high school programs with better facilities, equipment, and gear. It's getting to a point of 3 steps backward for the program.
