Not as black and white as that. Kids can go wherever they want for whatever reason they want. Until we get back to winning more than 2-3 games I can't defend our 'bright future'.

Dylan Porter is another kid I think we should be showing more interest in. He's a 6-5 290 lineman from Oregon who has a lot of interest from FBS schools as a preferred walk-on. But the thing is I've been talking to him and he said that he would come to ACU if they were to offer him. He really likes the program and doesn't have any D1 offers despite being a 2*. We should let the coaches know that there are these good players out there that are willing to come play for us. Talked to Dorrel yesterday. The staff has been in contact with Dylan Porter. Couldn't tell that he was all that impressed. But we only talked for a few minutes.

My original thought was the same on Wozniac--why would he choose Angelo over us? But Wildcatter is right, until it is proven that we are a winner, these kinds of kids will choose other colleges over us. Of course, he hasn't signed yet. I really like these 6'3" to 6'5" kids that are in the 270-280 lb range. A year of strength and conditioning, should make them gain 10-15 lbs and a little quickness. Seems to be the kind of kids Dorrel likes to work with.

Until we get back to winning we really won't have much of a chance with recruits that have a ton of offers so we'll have to go after more overlooked players.

It seems like every day he's getting another PWO from a FBS school. There must be at least some talent there. I'm not trying to say I know more than Dorrel because I obvsiouly don't, all I'm trying to say is I think this kid has talent and he's only gonna get better since he turned 17 only a couple of months ago. Also he will 100% come here if we offer him, he's just looking for his chance and I think we'll get a steal if we give him that chance.

I meant that I couldn't tell ... not that he wasn't impressed. Sorry.

If staff has talked to Porter then he most probably already knows where he stands with us. We have a scholarship limit and several positions to restock. Our staff will be leary of making offers until they "know" where we stand on the best athletes we can get at the positions we need. The next 3 weeks will see lots of offers, commitments and shifting among players who get offers and have committed. Be patient and enjoy the next 3 weeks.

It may happen. There will be lots of "film watching" as the staff evaluates the talent we have coming back. We still don't know who is an academic casualty (Dorrel does)and what he thinks of the players who are coming back. We may have positions that we feel are strengths (numbers of players) that the staff may think won't make it under them. Lots of attrition or maybe very little. Time will tell. When they see who actually reports to class next week and coaches meet with all the players then we'll start seeing the real direction our recruiting will take. It's good that Jackson already has a feel for what he will have on defense but experience tells me we may lose some of those players. We already have 7 returning OL who played lots last year and 5 more who redshirted and/or were on the roster. Now we've offered 3 more, with 2 seemingly committed. That's 14 on the roster and committed and we've got several more we are looking at. We have 2, count em--2 RB (not counting Miller a starting WR) and one has been often injured. I'd think RB ought to get lots of attention and lots of offers before many more OL are offered. Just my opinion.

We also have the walkons Anderson and Crisp who I think can be good players.

He may have a bunch of PWO offers but he doesn't have any scholarship offers. That says something to me. I'm glad you connected on Twitter with this kid but I'm going to assume none of us have ever seen a game of his, nor have the coaches, and his film really isn't that impressive imho (considering Oregon isn't known for its high school football). sure he's huge and sure he's friendly on twitter but realistically a new coaching staff with limited time and scholarships and planning for visits and travel are not gonna bring in a kid from Oregon. Maybe I'm wrong but I'd be surprised. Maybe he ends up being All-American somewhere, but I bet there are kids like him in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Louisiana.
