Guys again give up late inning lead. UIW scores 2 in 8th to tie, one in 9th to win.Cats again leave bases loaded in bottom 9.

This is a disturbing trend. Against Creighton they won these games but law of averages has caught up with them, it seems.

We're a little more than a quarter of the way through the season, so let's look at some stats.
Who are we kidding? Let's forget about Michigan State for a moment (just a moment). We've won 8 out our last 11 games. We've scored 62 runs while our opponents have scored only 38. Let's celebrate for a moment, for both hitting and pitching.
Alright, now that the celebration's over, let's add Michigan State back in and talk about the first 15 games of the past 4 seasons. In order to avoid information overload, I'll just talk about extra-base hits. --In the first 15 games of 2014, we had 30 extra-base hits (24 doubles, 2 triples & 4 HR's). --In 2015, we slipped to 28 (22 doubles, 3 triples & 3 HR's). --Last year, we only had 17 (15 doubles, 0 triples & 2 HR's). --This year, a whopping 43 (34 doubles, 1 triple & 8 HR's).
Now let's take those same stats for the first 15 games of this year and see how long it took us in the past 4 years to reach those same points. DOUBLES: --In 2014, it took us 20 games before we hit the 34 doubles mark. --In 2015, it took us 22 games to get there. --Last year, we didn't reach that mark until the 27th game. --This year, we're already there at 15 games. TRIPLES: --Last year, we didn't get a triple until the 27th game. --This year, we had one by the 5th game. HOME RUNS: --In 2014, it took us 43 games before we hit the 8 home runs mark. --In 2015, it also took 43 games to get there. --Last year, we didn't reach that mark until the 35th game. --This year, we're already there after 15 games.
As far as trends go, I think we've got one, and it's heading North.

I'll give the team credit. They are off to a much better start. MUCH MUCH better offensive statistics. Now I'd like to see us win a game against a POWER 5 conference team. I'd also like to see us retain all of our contributors for next season. But let's see how they finish this season out first.

Just blew a 7-0 lead to fall 9-8. Lost all 3 games to UNO. Tough weekend.

Not sure how to assess our team thus far. 19 games in and we still have 7 starters hitting over .300 and a team batting average of .300 even. We score runs but can't seem to keep the other side at bay. Our pitchers are great in spots but keep giving up the big inning or runs at the end of the game. We have to learn to close. 1-5 vs. UIW and UNO isn't too good. We'll be battling to get even in the conference the rest of the year, I'd think. I would sure like to see a big win vs. TCU.
