Another instance where I think the NCAA overreacts trying to solve a problem. I work in a high school and am perfectly free to encourage every "regular" student on campus to consider ACU. Even shower them with ACU clothing if I choose to. But if that student happens to be an athlete then it feels like I'm not even able to mention ACU under my breath around them. I understand trying to prevent boosters from showering an athlete with gifts trying to convince them to attend a certain school but there has to be a middle ground somewhere. The first time I read this I thought it said "showering with them in ACU clothing." I was very troubled. Thankfully, I re-read it and I feel much better now. Bucfan, I think that in your role as their teacher that you can talk with students about where they attend college. It's obvious, however, that gifts of clothing, etc are not kosher.

Hahaha. No, no showering with students! ACU doesn't need to be another Penn State! I still find it frustrating that there is such a difference in how you can recruit an "academic" student as compared to an "athletic" one. But with so many examples of boosters pretty much buying athletes, I understand the need for the rules.
